I have read that UPS is going to stop shipping ammo. The information is below.

1,000,000 Patriots Defending Our Second Amendment Rights.
Ok, I called the UPS HazMat line directly at 1-800-554-9964 and spoke directly to a representative who told me that yes December 31, 2013 was the initial date in which the ORM-D Ground shipping rules were supposed to change and we wouldn't have been able to ship ammo after that, however the USDOT has since changed the date and moved it back to December 31, 2020. So it is definitely in the works to cut off ammunition via shipment they just kicked the can down the road to 2020 instead of 2013. However they could at any time change their minds and move the date again since the DOT doesn't need congressional approval to make its regulations. I'll definitely be keeping an eye on this one.

There will be many elections and many opportunities to change or repeal this before it is enacted.

Wow that will be a lot of lost revenue for them. Ammo is the perfect package so to speak - small and dense. I guess in the near future all of our neighbors will know who buys ammo. There will be a lot more LTL shipments in residential areas :)

I didn't think USPS (the US mail) shipped ammo.

I brew beer, and I have to use FedEx or UPS - can't ship beer USPS.

    Bit of clarification-

The US MAIL- that's USPS for United States POSTAL service- does not and never has allowed shipment of loaded ammo, primers or powder.

UPS- United Parcel Service- DOES- with limitations.

Those limitations are set by the US Dept of Transportation. Do not blame UPS if the US DOT changes the rules THEY must abide by.

If shipping ammo, it goes UPS GROUND. Container has in the past, been marked ORM-D and Cartridges, small arms. You can continue to use that marking/ label until Jan 1 2014- at which time a new label (striped diamond) goes into use.

    http://bulletin.accurateshooter.com...-will-replace-orm-d-labels-on-ammo-shipments/

Shipments of ordinary small arms amm0- 50 cal and smaller, or 10 g and smaller, are NOT HAZMAT unless one shipment exceeds 66 pounds.
