This is a pic of an 8x8" target at 100 yards. It appears smaller then the ball on the bolt. If you think it is easy, think again. BTW, not one miss this day! ;) This is my middle son w/ a 1943 Husqvarna M38, open sight.

Yeah, J, I swear, if I see one more wannabe going on

about accuracy at 100 yards with iron sights on a

    pistol, I'm gonna puke.

It's easy to see who actually goes to a range,

vs folks who wouldn't know 50 yards, if it bit

    them on the ass.

We put some lead downrange that day!! 6.5x55, 8x57, 17HMr, 7.62x51, 7.5x55. All surplus except the .17HMR and the 7.62x51 came out of my HB Scoped Howa. You always hear how bad surplus rifles and ammo are. As I said, not 1 miss. Knowing the rifle does help.

I also like the old Mausers,, of course having young eyes helps a lot with iron sights. I really like the 6.5x55 Swede and 7x57,,,, looks like a fun filled day to me.

Ummm- how do you feel about iron sights on a REVOLVER at 100 yds?

Depends on the handgun, iron sight type, and round etc. I have a Ruger GP100 357. mag 6" barrel. I deer hunt with it because I am disabled from a car accident and it's easier traipsing through the woods with a revolver on my hip with my cane than a long gun on my shoulder offsetting my weight and throwing me off balance. All that being said I can hit reliability at 100 yards with it with 125gr pdx-1 defender rounds and get a good clean kill. Depends on the shooter and time spent behind the firearm not to mention visibility looking down the actual sights.

I used iron sights on 2 rifles yesterday.

9 ringed my 03A3 twice after shooting

about the paper, for six shots.

Shot a few rounds into the 9 ring with the AR

using iron sights, after a few shots to sight

    in. NO Bulls-eyes or

    10 rings.

    Real person

    Real guns

    Real skill(or lack thereof)

The simple truth is, for me to accurately and

reliably hit the target at 100 yards, with a pistol,

and iron sights, is more luck than precision.
