Anyone else use the wifes food saver for long term storage of ammo?
I have about 500rds of 9mm out of about 1500 stored up so far- Thinking about doing a couple other calibers & adding to the 9mm-
Even thought about buying a hi-point & sealing it-

Great idea on the dessicant pack -
Didn't think of that :)
Hmmm, I might have to try this out. I use my foodsaver all the time when I process game during hunting season, but never though about using it to store ammo long term. You could probably save the desiccant pack by using foodsaver then storing those in a military ammo box.
Usually I can get ammo cans for $7-10 each. I store primers and reloads.
I have a Food Saver I use all the time for food. LOL I never keep any ammo long time. I don't have enough stockpiled up that I don't shoot and replace with some regularity.

You might want to start
I've been retired since March (aka poor) but i'm in Walmart nearly every week- I pick up a box of 50 or 100 (dependin on cash at time) WWB almost ever trip-After i passed 1,000rds i figgered i needed a way to store the bulk of it-
It adds up :)

Make sure you use a NEW desiccant pack. The ones that come in a box of shoes you just bought (or any other item you purchased) are used up. They have already absorbed the moisture they are supposed to. You can purchase new form shipping supply places (Uline). They must be stored in an air tight container before you use them
