Would a bearbanger flare be effective for killing birds and other small animals just by the massive shock of the explosion.

    Thx,

Why would you want to shoot birds with a flare gun ?

    1. Hard to aim
    2. Flares travel in arcs.
    3. Not a humane way to hunt.
    4. Can cause a fire
    5. Use a shotgun
    6. Find a hobby
    7. Why?

Numbers 1 and 2 then. You might get lucky. I think the bird will dodge a flare higher in the air.

If all you had was the flare, it is best to learn basic trap and alternative fishing skills ahead of time. Stick with earthbound animals.

I think you'd get seriously laughed at by the birds. Aren't flares also relatively slow?

Bear bangers are only available for the 15mm tru flare pen launchers. They are available for 12 gauge shotgun, but one in a flare gun prolly isn't a good idea. I highly doubt you could hit/get close to a bird with a bear banger.
Not many people have an interest in flare guns, but it's actually a rather neat off-shoot of gun culture.

Why don't you just get the flair gun insert and convert it into a pistal it is really cheap and doesn't have to be registered only $21 for the insert

Also unsafe and illegal. Bad advice.

Actually, vikingdad, there is a couple legal inserts for the 26.5mm milsurp flare guns. They come in .22lr and .410/.45lc. I have the .22lr adapter, fun to shoot. It comes with a BATF certification letter, stating combing the adapter with the flare gun makes it a Title 1 firearm. It's perfectly legal. It's definitely not accurate, but it's good for the BOB or somethin.

If you have a 37mm with a 26.5mm adapter, or a CZ BRNO flare rifle, you can get a 12 gauge shotshell adapter, but it must be use in a registered DD (your launcher must be a registered destructive device).

I stand corrected. Though I don't think its good advice. I would prefer to have a proper firearm and use it the way it is intended to be used. If I'm going after birds I'll use a shotgun. That might be an M-6 survival gun.

It's going well ... Had to take a little hiatus from FTF for work. I can see things aren't boring, haha.
