I have an Yugo AK-47 and the front and rear sights have little flip-up tabs. From what I've learned so far is that these are the night sights. I just don't understand how they help or change the ability to aim accurately. It actually feels like the from sight hinders the view when flipped up.

Can someone explain how night sights work?

    Thanks

Sounds to me more like grenade launching sights. Do you have pix??

It does have the large grenade sight. About 4 or 5 inches long that folds up to block the gas block. I'm talking about the little ones on the fixed sights them selves(the first two pictures).

These are not of the actual rifle but exactly the same setup.
