My dads old Marlin 60 that was made in the late 60's. Still have it to this day, but havent shot it 10 years. But just cleaned it about a month ago. I just bought my oldest son his first rifle, he will be eight in March, and i picked up a ruger 10/22 for him for Christmas, but waiting untill end of March, early April to take him out to shoot it. Its still pretty cold in Michigan

How old are you? Have you ever handled a rifle before? If so what have you shot and what did you like best?

I just cant wait to buy me a Loki upper but I can't decide if I want a 5.56 or 300 blk I know I like to shoot but I also want it for home defense and I know the 5.56 round isnt really a big heart stopper in close quarter ingagments I'd like any of your opinions?

I assume you're looking for a rifle, so start with a .22 long rifle from any of the major manufacturers. Ruger 10/22, Marlin 60, Smith & Wesson 15-22, Savage, etc.

My first shotgun was a Mossberg (I believe a model 190, but I'm not sure) bolt action .410. My first rifle was a Mossberg .22 rimfire auto that my Dad had taken the magazine tube out so that I could only use it as a single shot. My first centerfire rifle was a Remington M788 in 243 Winchester.
