At approx 8:30 Wednesday morning I took my first deer with a military rifle. I was using one of my accurized loaded M1As and my handloads of 39 grs IMR 4895 with Nosler 168 BT bullets. The Ballistic Tip is an excellent bullet dropping the 6 pt right in his tracks.
I will head back to the camp Saturday afternoon after the weather clears a bit and will be taking my other accurized loaded M1A along with a Winchester M1 Garand and Remington 03.
I believe I will concentrate on hunting with the M1. I would love to take a deer with a 65 year old war horse.
Retirement is nice. I only have to come home every two weeks to get the mail and pay bills.

Good deal. Let us know how you do with the Garand.

Congratulation, this is what hunting's all about.

I worked-up a load for the Garand last year, but alas, all I have done so far is to lug that sucker through the woods, although, it felt pretty good.

Glad to hear you had a good hunt. It always feels good when your own load and weapon work well doesn't it?
