I haven't done a 6.8 but have done a AR15 and an Ar458. I do think a couple members here have done 6.8 builds though, maybe check the AR section for them. You are on the right path though - research and look for quality parts. Not sure how many manufacturers are making 6.8 parts though but maybe this will help - http://www.tactical-life.com/online/guns-and-weapons/stag-arms-68mm-spc/

Good luck and keep us posted :)

    Rhino123,

Sounds great! But regarding the 50 Beowulf I would certainly look into the 458SOCOM first without a doubt. It is one fantastic cal. It no longer is a proprietary round like the Beowulf and is produced by several companies as well as dies are available to load the 458 SOCOM. Corbon for defense rounds and others for general rounds. I have shot pigs in Texas with the 458 SOCOM Rounds and they were DRT! Barns is also making some fantastic bullets for the 458~

There is some machining required around the ejection port and on the bolt face itself. OTher than that t looks just like an AR15, until you get a look at the muzzle ;)
