Well peoples of the interwebular community, I've finally decided to start my first build. I thought about saving up and buying everything all at once, but decided against that since I'd probably end up buying something else with the money. The reason for opting to do a 10/22 platform as a first build was rather simple.....their not as complicated when it comes to all the ridiculous laws as an AR-15 variant is up here in Canada.

The first piece that I've bought (literally five minutes ago haha) is a Dlask .920 stainless barrel in a matte finish with a sporter chamber. Could I have gone with an "Extreme" chamber? Sure, but I'm looking to be able to use all brands of ammunition, that chamber would exclude me from using CCIs ammunition.

    Before I ramble on anymore.......

With taxes and shipping, I don't think it was to bad of a price.

I thought about doing the 80%, but I wouldn't be farther a head at all since I don't have a jig.

I'm also wanting to get a Tactical Innovations CH22 receiver. That way I can have an "AR" with out all the paper work.

I'll take a look at those DR, but it all depends what I can get for a reasonable price that's already north of the border.

Very true. Don't know if they are as easy to get there as here. I doubt you coukd get the threaded versions of either...
Can't help much on the Stock but I have an old Tapco. Like some of the newer but there are so many now...

12.5 in barrel.. i assume there are not as many rules regarding lenght of barrels up there? that will definitely look unique.

We're allowed threaded barrels up here, just have to watch what we put on them. Basic rule is that as long as what ever we put on the end doesn't decrease the sound, we're safe.

As far as barrel length goes, I am pushing it a little. The entire firearm isn't allowed to be below 660mm (26") and still be able to function. If the firearm ends up turning out like that, then A) I update my licence or B) I suck it up, sell the 12.5" and buy the 16" version......or a longer stock.

Nice. Keep us apprised. I'm doing some work for someone and he wants to pay me with his "Extra" 10/22. Maybe I will build my hand crank Gatling gun 10/22 afterall...,

Here it is in all it's glory. Thing weighs almost as much as just the 10/22 sporter alone does man. Was actually surprised by that. So obviously the barrel isn't in a matte stainless version that I was kind of hoping for.....but I'm sort of glad that it isn't. I was looking at receivers and stocks, none really seemed to go all that well with a silver barrel. It was the same issue with trying to find a muzzle device to go with it. I am however rather tempted on getting a bright blue brake......

The threads are the typical 1/2"x28

I'm working on it man, I truly am.....just have to put the project or hold already. I'm having a ridiculous amount of car troubles right now. Which doesn't even surprise me considering I just spent a good chunk of money two weekends ago.

So because it was a good price with shipping and was literally the style I was looking for, I've got a new piece coming in......should be here in the next couple of days, so I'll keep you guys in suspense until it gets here.

Alright, so a small bit of mixed emotions. My package came in, which is pretty flipping sweet. It's a TacSol flash hider/break. I'll tell you this, the thing is incredibly light. Even holding the package it came in, you barely even notice it at all.

Here's where I get bummed out, while threading on the compensator, it bottoms out.

    ImageUploadedByFirearms Talk1403207674.894237.jpg

Q-tip is there as size reference.

I was thinking of maybe just grabbing a tap and threading a little farther, but you can see there's a "shelf" that'd stop me from going farther.

Any opinions from you wise peoples?

Have a gunsmith cut some of the threaded barrel off and re thread? Just my idea. Or get a different muzzle brake.

I got a piece of advice off of a Canadian firearms forum. Some one suggested using a bottoming tap to try and cut a couple extra threads into the compensator. If that doesn't work then I'll most likely end up visiting a gunsmith JJ.
