It's been some time since I posted here. I bought my Ruger 10/22 on january 1, put 100 rounds through it and then was far too busy to search for a reliable place to shoot.
Despite that, I invested in TechSights. The factory standard "gold bead" sight was just atrocious. I couldn't hit anything!

After installing the sights, the rifle sat again for a month or two. Then hunting season hit, and I was told of a sand pit near the house that's got permanent target stands set up. The property owner doesn't mind shooting there, so long as you pack out your brass. (Which some folks ignore. Fine by me, more brass for my scrap can!).

After several Sundays of trying and finding the pit "occupied" (it's a popular spot), I managed to zero my sights!
The TechSights are great. Exactly the same as the M16A2 I was issued in the Marines. I was firing off 10-round magazines at paper, and thought I was missing the target somehow, because when I checked the group, there were only 7 or 8 holes. When I looked closer, I realized I was double-striking the same point with followup rounds.

I can't say enough about these sights. Now, let's hope I can get more than 150 rounds through the rifle in a year ;)
