I went into my LGS, the ffl fee had went up to 50 bucks. Is that a reasonable fee or just to high?

I've seen it range $25-$50 over the years, so is it high, yes. Outrageous? Not really.

$25 to $50 is the usual range around Indiananapolis also, with most being somewhere around $35.

It's high!! $25 is the "usuall" rate at any of the local shops In north central Indiana Any shop that started gouging their FFL rate would be a shop I no longer patronize...

There are sometimes reasons that FFL will raise their fees.

The cost of doing business could create the raise. An informal agreement on rates with other FFL's should be the correct way to go

But to take advantage of the current situation is just greedy (or they are trying to send you to someone else).

Today $35-$50 is the normal. A dealer advised me he use to charge $25. But due to the volume of people needing transfers and the fact that when the all come in it takes his sales people away from the counter dealing with his walk in customers who buy his weapons. He raised the price slightly. This to hopefully make up for the time and any customer that might walk out due to a wait! Which would result in possible lost business.:)

the FFLs in my area (monmouth/ocean county NJ) are between $30-$45. Maybe he feels since ammo and black guns have increased in price so should his fees?

Have seen $10 to $100. Do this-

Go to Gunbroker.com. There is a "find a FFL" section. Plug in your zip code. Dealers that have registered with gunbroker as willing to do transfers are listed- most put their fees on there.

    I charge $20.
    My break-down is something like:
    $5 - FDLE
$15 - Applied to other areas that include Telephone (FAX), license, taxes.

This is a good link. Most in my area are $25.00-$35.00. I do have one real close that only charges $20.00 but he can be difficult to contact at times.

My last transfer fee, about a month and a half ago was 5 bucks. But she said she's going up to 15 bucks this year. Still not bad considering other LGS's in the area are 25 to 40 bucks.
