So I need to transfer a handgun and there are only a few places within an hour of me that will do it. Two are small, self standing stores and one is Gander Mountain. Lube up if you go to Gander, $75!!!! Both the small places were $25, which is reasonable but only one with fax me their FFL and save me over an hour in the car.

When I was in Asheville my dealer didn't charge me for transfers because I was in there regularly buying, trading, selling and chewing the fat if I needed a little time after work before heading home.

All this got me thinking, what are you guys paying to transfer firearms?

When I was in Atlanta, I paid $15 per 4473, and you can receive multiple guns on the same form. Down here I was paying $20 - but they just doubled the price (new owner/manager). I'll have to go to Savannah now and it will be $15 again...

Between $35 and $50 for a long gun and up to $100 for a handgun...not including the NICS fee of $16.

FFL transfers go from $50 to $150, depending on who you talk with for the transfer. Tax is extra, about 7%!

My FFL (located in Round Rock, TX) only charges $10.00 per transfer. I heard he only charges $6.00 a few years back. Not sure how he is making any money but I am not complaining. :D

Anyone needing an FFL near Austin/Round Rock, TX, PM me for his contact info. He is a great guy and operates from his home. He emails a copy of his FFL license you can send to the vendor (if they don't have it in file yet). I am usually in and out in about 15 minutes with my firearm.

$35-50 for paperwork at Brett's, unless his wife is doing the paperwork and/or it's my birthday, then it's usually paid in full. :p

It's $25 where I work and $75 at a Gander Mt. less than 20 minutes from there. What a rip off.

Both Auction Arms and Gunbroker have a "find a ffl" function on their home page. Dealers that have registered as being willing to do transfers. Low around here is $10, high $100.

$30 for rifles not on the special list
$50-60 for pistols and rifles on the list

It really bothers me when buying less expensive firearms. If I buy a .22 pistol for $250, I have to pay an extra 20% in fees.

Most places are $25 here with Greentop being $75 jackholes.

Gander will not even look at a transfer. Too many knuckle heads in there paying for msrp+40% on any gun used or new.

Around these parts it's anywhere from $15.00 to $100.00 at Gander. We charge $35.00.
