I just got my first AR and the feed ramps look messed up. It hasn't been fired yet so I'm not sure if it will feed. Do you guys think I should exchange it?

Looks about the same as my AR-15 barrel I have sitting on my reloading bench, I believe the feed ramp is cut this way because of the way the rounds stack in the Mag. But maybe one of the Gunsmiths we have here can shed some light on it, and let us know for sure.

After examining that pic carefully, it appears your camera angle gives the appearance of asymetrical ramps, when in fact they are probably perfectly milled.

The ramp on the left does not match up with your upper. I would have that checked out. :(

Who makes your AR? The ramps are fine since they are machined into the barrel extension. If the upper receiver was milled incorrectly then that is what you are seeing. This should have no effect on feeding since the rounds only ride up on the barrel extension and not the upper receiver. I would be interested to know who manufactured your AR, because if it's not just a poor camera angle, than it's poor QC. If you are worried about it feeding, load up a magazine and manually cycle them through the action (keeping your finger off the trigger of course)

I ordered the kit from M&A parts. They say on their website that LMT manufactures and assembles their barreled uppers. I extracted a magazine manually and it was fine.

M&A don't sell junk that I know of but even they can get a bad product once in a while. But from looking at your pic I don't think it is bad. Take it to the range and run a few houndred rounds through it see how it functions.

I checked out some other forums online and one guy said that M&A hand dremels the extended ramps. I'm pretty sure they dont even cost more so I don't know why they would wreck a new upper.:(

Here's what they should look like. I'd send that one back. Even if it functions, it'll hurt it's resale value.

I sent it back last week and M&A shipped a new one out the next day. I got it two days later and it looked much better. The new one also had chrome lining instead of the moly that I ordered.
