Personally I like the bank robbery scene in "Heat" and the shootout in the beginning of "The devils rejects". What are your favorites?
Anything Sam Peckinpah! (1925-1984) The Films * The Deadly Companions (1961) * Ride the High Country (1962) * Major Dundee (1965) * The Wild Bunch (1969) * The Ballad of Cable Hogue (1970) * Straw Dogs (1971) * Junior Bonner (1972) * The Getaway (1972) * Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid (1973) * Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia (1974) * The Killer Elite (1975) * Cross of Iron (1977) * Convoy (1978) * The Osterman Weekend (1983) (I guess I'm showing my age!) Do yourself a favor and watch The Wild Bunch.
I would say "Heat" as well. Best scene in the world. Since that one is stated, I'll have to say a close second is "Boondock Saints" between the three and 'El Duce' (the dad with 6 guns)
The beach scene in Apocalypse Now, especially on the DVD when Capt. Willard steals Col. Kilgore's surfboard. You can't beat Heat for the bank scene. Ronin also had some pretty good ones. The whole movie We We're Soldiers was all one big shootout.
Probably "Whiskey for my men, beer for my horses". Ted Nugent stands over a guy discharging two Tech-9s into the air and just showering the bad guy with spent brass. A god-like display of power. Hard Boiled, just for the sheer variety and volume.
Thank God - I was about to come unglued on the fact that a movie list of SHOOT OUTS that DIDN'T include a John Woo movie. THANK YOU BENNING! Hard Boiled definitely Heat bank scene definitely Black Hawk Down - Pretty much the whole Ridley Scott masterpiece. However, when Shugart and Gordan go in..... The Crow - When Brandon Lee utters the words "You're ALL going to die" Tears of the Sun - When they demonstrate the "Australian Peel" towards the end of the movie. Last Man Standing - The girl recovery scene JD
Are you kidding me? At the time that movie came out, and Brandon had just died, that movie was EPIC. $94 Million in tickets on a $15 Million dollar budget?! There was no "EMO" at that time - there was loss over a gifted and talented actor who was the son of a martial arts legend that was ALSO lost early, and also while filming a movie. And don't you worry about the future with me in it - I will be the one uttering those lines to several of the Space Zombies LONG before they get me....
The street shootout in Heat is awesome! +100 on Shugart and Gordon. Those two HEROES took it to the skinny's in one of, if not the most epic battle in recent times.
+100 JD. i agree that movie is the best movie in my opinion. the things they did to finish it after he died. i think you can see the bullet that hits him in the scene.
heat band of brothers- when they land on the beach in the beginning planet terror when trumpets fade tears of the sun man there is just to many to name
SOME of the aforementioned, plus: Proof of Life when the support team opens up with the saw Dog Soldiers (a british werewolf flick, worth a look) Red Dawn - the ambush in the snow Tombstone - scene at the river The Final Option - the entry scene Navy Seals (OK a stinker I know) the Beirut shootout, 'specially the RPK Platoon - a few scenes
Most of "We Were Soldiers" You know a good shootout is going to happen when it's preceded by the line "Gentleman. Prepare to defend yourselves!"
I did forget about it - but I have to admit the final gunfight scene wasn't that great - though the music was a nice touch.... Thin Red Line - Sweet Jesus, halfway through that piece of crap I was looking for a rifle to wipe the rest of those guys out just to end MY suffering.... JD
