Okay. Let's be honest. Everyone either knows someone, or knows someone who "knows someone" who thinks the government is behind EVERYTHING.

Hollywood is adept at that sub culture and gives up several movies a year to keep feeding that frenzy. It's a self fulfilling prophecy - give the people what they want, you make money...

What I want to know is, what are some of your favorite Conspiracy Movies?

This afternoon I was watching Flashpoint. From 1984. Starring Chris Christopherson and Treat Williams. It's about the Kennedy Assassination.

I love this movie. There is nothing "Hollywood Epic" about it - it's just a decent, well written, well acted movie. It's got these subtle details, that the characters follow up on instead of being "given" the answers that catches my attention everytime it's on. Makes me want to break out the DVD and watch the original, with no commercials...

"Bobby: You're the only man I know who can screw up his own wet dream."

For those watching it for the first time, the visit with the "crazy old fart" in the the trailer is a classic in film..."F"ing epic.... LOL

So - what are some of your favorite Conspiracy Movies? EDIT: I guess I should add; Why is this a favorite of yours?

    Haha. I'm that guy!

    Arlington Road - Jeff Bridges

    Conspiracy - Mel Gibson

    Shooter - Mark Walberg

    Manchurian Candidate - Denzel Washington

All The President's Men - Hoffman and Redford

Ask me about my favorite revenge movies sometime. I collect those :)

Conspiracy and Shooter are both in my collection. Good choices Ineffable....Shooter is one of the best "sniper" movies to come out - other than the "victim" uses a .416 round in the beginning to be framed for a.50 BMG kill for most of the movie. :(

Otherwise, very good. Especially the part with the use of the Mil-Dot scope in the first 60 seconds....

Enemy of the State is my favourite in the genre.
Shooter was ok, but they chopped a whole heap out of the book.
the original book the movie was based on is called Point of Impact. They stuffed up a few times in the movie but it was still cool.

I saw an interview on it last year, and they said that all the technology in that movie currently exists and is in use today.

Privacy laws are all that keep it from being misued by the government. Athough, I expect that there are sections of the government using the stuff despite privacy laws--its just too tempting not too......
