What r your Favorite optics for an assault rifle ?
I like Eotech on my AR. I don't run optics on my AKM clones. But the Busnell TRS 25 is becoming one if my favorite budget compact red dots, and may find its way onto an AK clone in the future.
i dont have any assault rifles. i do have about 5 ar15 and 2 ak47.
i dont care for optics on the ak's its just not a good gun for them.
on my ar15's it depends. for my ohsht rifle i use an acog, precision ar15 i use a nightforce 12-45x benchrest, my wife likes the aimpoint rds.
ACOG TA31 rcoM4 is what I used in the marines as what I have on my AR. I love it
Well, I don't have any assault rifles, but I do have some semi-automatic carbines and rifles.
I like an Aimpoint or EoTech.
I prefer the Comp M3 to the Comp M4 because I don't think the extra weight and cost is worth the slight increase in ruggedness and I want smaller, not larger batteries.
The Micro is a little too small for me, but lots of other people love them.
I like the EoTech XPS models for their wider field of view. My HD AR has an EoTech XPS on it while my SCAR 17 has a Comp M3 and Magnifier on it.
The SCAR is just a target rifle for me, as are most of my rifles, but the AR is my go-to gun for HD.
I think I offended every one by saying "assault rifle" sorry about that. I found a eotech HHS 2 does any body have a optic like this ?
I use the eotech and acog. They're nice and stuff.
No offense taken, I just don't have the scratch to purchase a real deal M16A2 or AK-47 or I would.
If i had (which I don't for NSA purposes) a ddm4v5 which has plenty of picatinny real estate I WOULD have an aimpoint pro and the flip to side 3x magnifier (hybrid sight for you call of duty noobs ) and Troy flip up buis , its cheaper than an acog by a few hundred $$ and gives you more options.
I don't have an Ak (I know zombiepocolyse fail boat here I come) but my friend runs a hi lux leather wood red dot off of it. It's a pretty solid optic and it's around $100 waterproof fog proof all that noise but it's Chinese.
If I had an ak it's what I'd use if it wasn't Chinese
The non existent ar is high end it might have teir 1 optics- skimping on optics on a high end ar is like putting hub caps on an escalade
For an AR-15 (depending on your use), I think an EOTech with a G33 magnifier is too notch.
Great battery life
And the magnifier makes it easy to go from CQB to linger range
Kinda the best of both worlds
Except the price tag
You didn't offend anyone. Using the correct terminology is important . Words have power.
Calling a semi automatic only ar15 ak47 or any other semi auto only rifle an "assault rifle" is like calling a prius a f1 racer.
Assault rifles are rifles that have been used to assault someone and this can be a a single shot 22lr or any other rifle out there, second type is a rifle that has full auto 3 round burst or combination of both and is issued by a government to its military forces.
It just helps to be clear when asking for info or opinions. No one is offended
But the price tag is still less than most acog configs which people had suggested/mentioned...
Bushnell TRS25 is one but the favorite on my semi auto carbine is the Bushnell Trophy 1-4x24 scope with a 4A reticle and a 1 moa red dot built in. I like to keep it simple with an uncluttered reticle. I can use it with or without power and dont have to contend with a swing away magnifier.
So would you say that it's worth the price for a scar 16 ?
Scar16 no. Scar17 yes. There isn't enough performance gap between a scar16 and a good ar15 as there is in the scar17 to any ar10 to warrant the cost difference.
Well that's cool to know but I meant the optics ON o scar 16 or 17 my bad Dude !!
There are so many variations on optics for the AR that you have to decide for yourself what you are wanting one for? I like Eotechs for the large field of view. I like Aimpoints for the tiny dot not covering up the target I am aiming at. I like optic scopes for being able to see what it is you are wanting to shoot at long distances. They make them with fiber-optics that require no batteries, etc, so they would be prefect for a real SHTF scenario. (Mepro and Trijicon for starters), What are you wanting to use one for?
Target shooting mainly with some short and long range varmint extermination
For long range and varmint extermination a good conventional variable power scope.
I prefer the iron sights on my AK's and an optic sight for 'hunting' with an AR. I use a 3x9x40 on a QD mount
for a shtf moment, ill put on a red dot sight instead
