So I recently bought a Marlin 30AW which is identical to the 336 except was manufactured for places like wal-mart and Kmart

I plan on hunting deer with it next season but in the meantime enjoying it and getting familiar with the rifle

What I want to know is whats everyones favorite 30-30 cartridge to use and why they like it. Also what they would recommend for me including brand and 150grn as supposed to 170 and so on

Keep in mind I'm using it in an areas where ranges rarely exceed 100yards and there is a lot of brush around. I was told by the clerk who sold it to me that hornady's lever evolution rounds were the best, but to me it sounds like a waste of money considering the distances around here

Any information you could give me would be great!

I use the same rifle for deer hunting and tend to stick with Remington or Winchester 170gr soft points with the scope zeroed at 100yds for that bullet weight.
