  1. Yes, it's already 'soured', even when it's within it's expiration date.

  2. No, that expiration date is on there for a reason.

  3. Yes, but only if I washed it down with a beer.

So I was digging through the 'fridge tonight looking for something to bring to work for lunch. I come across a delicious Yoplait lemon yogurt dated May 5th, 2013. I stared at it for a moment and I made a decision as to whether to eat it or not. I'll reveal my decision as soon as I hear from a few of you telling me what you would do.

I've eaten expired yogurt before. The commercially sealed stuff, no problem! The "all natural" stuff in a non-factory sealed Tupperware type cup, no way Jose!

It should have been just fine.

Give it the old smell test. You'll be able to tell if it's bad or not :D

You'll be totally fine if it doesn't smell like sour s***

Most of the time I never look at expiration dates,, nothing is normally around that long, but there has been a time or two when my wife has asked what happened to a certain item in the fridge because she was going to throw it out,, no botulism yet.

Nowadays they put expiration dates on bottled WATER, plastics, and MREs (I have some that expired about 5 years ago. Still fine.)

If you've never eaten it how do you know if you don't like it. It's like pudding.

I used to not eat peanut butter because I didn't like the consistency. I do eat peanut butter now, but very rarely and it has to be on crackers so it has crunch. Peanut butter on bread is icky to me.

You don't know that!!! You weren't there. I still have it and I'm not telling if I'm going to eat it or not yet.

I bought a jar of extra crunchy peanut butter. When I opened it, it was just peanuts.

Love yogurt. Had whole milk yogurt probably for the first time Friday night from a Trader Joe's -- damn was it good and smooth and creamy compared to what seems to be otherwise available which is from lowfat and skim milk it seems. What a difference! Maybe that's what Greek yogurt is like.

I would not eat that old a yogurt. Yes it is soured, the dates don't mean as much as they intimate, but it has nothing to do with beer. Hate to waste food but health is important.

Now, if someone can explain why Pepperidge Farm Hearty White bread should still be mold and odor free as well as soft after expiring almost two months earlier I'd like to know. I still gave it to the squirrels, etc., but DAMN!!!

A buddy explained to me Wednesday night he only eats crunchy, not smooth peanut butter, because, ready?

    He likes peanuts.

If I eat peanut butter, it has to be crunchy. I can't stand that thick, pasty texture of creamy peanut butter.

Hmmm......might be fodder for another poll. I've noticed almost all the polls I've ever posted are food related.
