I have avoided sights that are gouging. It will calm down soon. Magpul will be in overdrive making black 30 round mags when they get back from vacation. Ammo will catch up.

That said, I have every right to point out the douchiness of some of it.

Stopped by my LGS yesterday- needed to pick up some 20 g buckshot to go with a Christmas present. They had every employee they had working (and asked if I could spend some time talking with 2 folks that were in need of information). Place was packed!

They are sold out of every AR/ AK type rifle they have (except one Cali compliant DPMS- which NO ONE wants to buy! ) They have about 40-50 a few days ago. Their prices on rifles, ammo and mags did not change- if it sells, it sells. If we sell out, we sell out. We do not screw our customers.

Meanwhile, gun show 30 miles away, ridiculous prices on everything- and herds of people clutching money trying to get in the door.

And THAT is why my LGS is my LGS.

my local lgs pulled all their 30 round mags off the shelf made sure they had four for each of their ar15 to offer to people who purchased a rifle and if they didnt buy the mags they put them on the shelf. they didnt raise prices except on one idiot while i was there who was *****ing about them saving mags for the folks that were buying a rifle. they told him he could buy all they had for 500$ a pop everyone else 15$

Arms list in ky has plenty of 1500 DPMS ARs and aks. $70 pmags. Through the roof ammo.

What comes to mind is the FN SCAR 17 that normally sells for $1500-$1800 is now selling for close to $4000

Freaking hell yeah. That is the way it's SUPPOSED to work. Market demand. The demand is through the roof, so are the prices. If the prices get too high, people stop buying. People stop buying, demand drops. Demand drops, so do prices. Prices drop, people buy. People buy, demands increases.... On... And on.... And on.... And on...

These are basic economic principles that were taught to me in the FIFTH GRADE. Also why you don't see be ***** too awful much about prices of most anything (that and I don't own an AR...)

If free capitalism is a concept that even a Mississippi educated 12 year old can understand, WTF can't grown assed men and women? So many of whom have college degrees these days?

I recently (as of about 5 days ago) finished building my first AR-15. I went to my LGS to get the castle nut tightened down because I didn't have the wrench to do it. A guy in there spotted my shiny new AR and when I was leaving he was out by his truck. The following conversation took place:

Him: Noticed your AR in there. Good lookin' rifle man. How does it shoot?
Me: Thanks man. Not sure yet. I haven't even shot it. I just finished putting it together a couple of days ago.
Him: Interested in selling it?
Me: Nah. I think I'm gonna hang onto it.
Him: How much you got in it?
Me: About $700 or so as-is.
Him: I'll give you $1000 cash for it right here and now.
Me: Thanks man, but no thanks.
Him: These guys know where to find me if you change your mind. The offer stands or come back at me with an offer of what you'd accept. I'm sure we can work it out.

People are desperate I guess...
