Hey all, do any of you recommend dummy ammo for dry fire training (trigger control etc...)? If so what dummy ammo is good? Any thoughts?

Also check out amazon. There's 124 different products listed for dummy ammunition including snap caps. and some are cheaper than snap caps. And their shipping options are usually better than retail stores like bass pro and cabelas.

If you reload, I have seen guys who make their own. They seat a bullet in an empty case with a hole drilled in it to insure that it isn't loaded, then they fill the primer pocket with silicon to cushion the firing pin.

New official stance from Glock, is excessive dry firing without snap caps, is not recommend.

Heh. Good luck with that considering that dry firing is part of the safety check at the conclusion of every POST course I've ever shot as well as the safety check after every other official live fire exercise I've ever been involved in.

All 3 of our Glock Armorers said it doesn't really hurt anything. And they're the ones who have to fix our guns if they do have a problem, so if it did hurt anything believe me they'd be the first to complain.

Excessive is 10s of thousands of times a year. Competition shooters are the only ones that need to worry about it. And If you wear it out with dry fire glock fixes it no problem.
