So i went to a local gun store the other day, looking for a Dragunov rifle, and not only do they not have any, the clerk tells me that some people from the government came by one day and asked for a list of people who purchased Dragunovs in the past because they were to be confiscated as they were no longer legal.

Does anyone know what the deal is with this particular rifle? Or is there some kind of umbrella law under which this rifle constitutes as illegal?

They were not dragunovs that F-Troop went after - they were Romaks/PSLs that had a technical issue. Century Arms had improperly assembled parts kits that were not correctly demilled and they were recalled. Real dragunovs are completely legal and sell for around $2500 in good shape, because they are no longer importable.

Secondly, there is a HUGE difference between a Dragunov/NDM-86 and a Romak/PSL. Just because a commie self loader has a thumbhole stock and a long barrel does not make it a dragunov.
