Made a small strop from scraps laying around to keep on my bench.

    ~scrap of 1x2
    ~old leather 1½" wide belt
    ~wood glue

Glue a section of old belt cut to length of a 1x2 wood scrap, glue it down, clamp it overnight. ezpz. The only extras I did were rounding of the bottom edges of the scrap with a router, sanding, then putting on a couple coats of polyurethane.

    Works like a champ.

That is a well done project.

I visit antique stores fairly often and you can find really nice barbers strops for $10.00 to $20.00 if you are patient. The one I am using now is a "Scorcher Model 140" and was Made in England. It has four different grades of leather. I believe I paid $10.00 for it. I just wish I could use it like the barber who first owned it.
