How far can you accurately shoot your .22s with iron sights? I'm talking about hitting objects about the size of coke cans. I'm just curious to see how I stack up.

last time i tried was 2 to 3 inch hanging steel plates at fifty yards. but that was several years ago and i havent tried anything farther than that with a .22. 500 yards with my m16a4. . i would assume you could do 100 to 200 yards with a .22 if you practiced enough.

I'm sure 100 yards is possible with the irons though I've never shot that far with my 22.

Marines have to qualify out to 500 yards with there m16 using iron sights.

I am almost positive I couldn't shoot 500 yards with iron sights on any weapon. I can hit a can dead center at 45-50 yards all day with my Ruger, but I would have a hard time at 100 yards.

Yeah that's true for me too but I guess it depends on the size of the target your shooting at

Soldiers do quality at 500 meters. But not with bottle sized targets. We shot at human sized knock down targets.

It was a long time ago but I used to shoot a high powered pellet rifle with iron sights. I don't know the exact distance. But it was at least 100 yards. I could consistantly hit a 16 ounce can of beans at that range.

My son and I shoot 6" steel plates out to 200/250 yards with iron sight .22 rifles on a regular basis. What really gets under his skin is when I shoot against him using one of my .22lr handguns and out shoot him shot for shot.

longest shot I've ever made using a 22lr was 100 yards, it was a colt m4 style 22lr and I have a 3 inch group. I don't know how I would do with a 10/22 or anything like that but really it's not all that hard. I prefer scope just because of my eye sight.

I once made a 300 yard squirrel shot with a .22, in the head. I'm not trying to brag about it...because it was nothing but luck.

Intentional... the last time I shot was 4" clays at around 40-50 yards or so. Wait a minute.. I seem to remember a duck decoy at around 150-200ish on that range trip...

Depends entirely on one's eyesight ;)
