For anyone who is a fan of the show, the new season starts tonight.

If you are a fan of the show, I am sure you already know some of the sad news that has come out. If you haven't, I won't spoil it for you.

The Seattle area is home to a lot of the ships on the show, so Deadliest Catch is kind of a local team for us here.

Anyways, the new season starts tonight with an episode called Slow Burn.

I am totally addicted to this show, the boats, the cameramen & the crabbers and their families. It's a great ride. But I have to say I didn't know there was any connection to Seattle.

Yeah. A lot of the boats make port in the off season in a part of Seattle known as Ballard. It's full of the Norweign fishing heritage.

Johnathan and his brother, the guys from the Time Bandit, always have viewing parties with one of two local radio stations. They show up about 3 hours before the show is broadcast, hang out with their fans, watch the show and then usually head off to some other bar and close it down. They are REALLY popular local guys around here.

    Dillinger,

Last night I watched this week's episode on TIVO & someone on the Time Bandit made reference to the fact that they were doing "Crab Fishing in 2009". I know that the unexpected turn of events happened in 2010. So will this event occur during the filming of this season or, does it happen after the filming is done?
I think it's a close call, it could be either, what do you think.
Also, Sig from the NW said something about Phil's son, whose now on the NW, and he's trying to keep him from harm's way, ie: off the rail. He's concerned about him.
One other thing, I peeked ahead on my TIVO scheduler and there's only one more episode to record, go figure.

Yes, he's a nice guy, very kind. I got that autograph 3 years ago in Orlando, FL (MGM Studios or Universal Studios.... I can't remember).

Jack - there are two seasons of crab fishing, the king crab and the opie ( snow ) crab season.

I think the season starts in like October and the king season is like 2to 5 weeks long. The season varies. Then there is a down period and then the opie season starts.

I believe that Captain Phil was airlifted from the Cornelia Marie, possibly from port or near port, but I don't know at what point that happened.

The news that he was in the hospital was big news here in the Seattle area and there was a lot of local controversy over the camera crews being there and filming.

A lot of that died down when it was released that Capt Phil woke up at one point and basically scolded the film crew for not filming, making the statement that "the show needs an ending".

I guess we will see this season.

Jess - Oh really? Is this a Mike Rowe sort of thing? :D Do Tell!!

Well..."Big Boy", I was trying to liven this place up, but apparently you're too immature to notice. Look, I'm sorry if you got "butt-hurt" by my jokes. Most kids don't understand my humor...
