    I have a Daniel Defense AR-15 and I was looking to put a RPA Bolt Carrier in it would it fit? Same with a Salient Arms Charging Handle?

    I checked RPA's web page, and all I saw were bolt action rifle and accessories. That being said, Daniel Defense is probably one of the top two AR15 companies, and their parts are more desired than anyone elses. If RPA makes an AR bolt carrier, I might try it on a build, but I would keep only Daniel Defense parts on my Daniel Defense (if I could afford one). Their re-sale value is really high. That being said, the rule of thumb is AR15 parts are the most interchangeable of all firearms. If the BCG and charging handle you mentioned are milspec, they will work. But just because you can, doesn't mean you should.

    I agree with fsted2a, I'd be reluctant to replace the existing carrier or complete BCG in a Daniel Defense M4V5. Four+ years ago I bought a DD barreled upper during a special sale DD had though Smartgunner. I added a DD BCG, charging handle and MOE handguards, basically building a DDM4V3 LW, except with MOEs instead of a DD rail. Still, the meat and potatoes are genuine Daniel Defense.

    Same goes with a similar BCM barreled upper, I used a BCM BCG to keep the heart and soul both BCM. Now with a PSA upper I used a BCM BCG that I already had as a spare (the year BCGs were next to impossible to get.) Later I got a PSA BCG but it's now the spare because I like the BCM better.

    The salient arms charging handle is made by Raineir arms. Salient just sticks their logo on it. At least they admit to that on their instagram page. Salient arms stuff costs a fortune too! From what I know about DD I don't think using an rpa bcg and a salient charging handle would be an improvement.

    BTW, if we didn't make it clear, yes you can easily swap in a different charging handle. Rainier's is good and I like the BCM Gunfighter Model 4 which I now have on both my DDM4V3 and BCM.

    Brinky,

    I guess I am with the rest of them! Why do you want to change out the Daniel Defense Bolt Carrier? One can do what they certainly want to do but I couldn't understand why in this case. Unless you were wanting a Chrome Lined Bolt Carrier or other reason. But no reason why their AR-15 Bolt Carrier wouldn't work. The Headspace of the AR-15 style rifle is on the Bolt itself! That is another issue if you were changing out the whole carrier group!

    I got to use the raptor , i dont like how far it sticks out on both sides. I know its ambidextrous and it makes it easier to get ashold of, but It sticks out to far for my liking . I went with the BCM model 4s in all my rifles except my .308 which will come in time . Heres what I have noticed going from the standard charging handle to the BCM . There isnt as much flex when you pull from the side of the BCM as there is with a standard CH . Im not sure if its different material or just a hair thicker but it feels more solid .

    Personally I would not change out the DD for a off branded BCG , Keep what you have and if you truly dont like what you have let me know I might just buy it from you :)

    Bri.nky, If you have any Daniel Defense parts you wish to swap for another brand, I am sure you can find someone on this thread who will be happy to trade with you.

    I swapped out a buncha parts on my DDM4v3, but nothing critical to its identity. Just upgrades. The CH is worth upgrading. Stock DD triggers also tend not to be so hot. Apart from a few personal taste items, you'll do best leaving the DD intact.

    Parts I swapped, OLD ---> NEW

    Stock trigger ---> ALG QMS
    MOE Stock ---> Magpul STR
    DD VFG ---> Magpul AFG
    Basic CH ---> BCM Gunfighter
    A2 Grip ---> Umbrella

    Sweeper, these are the few parts I would tinker with on a DD. The BCG I would leave the same, as well as the receivers and the barrel. I would probably leave the buffer tube assembly alone as well. I would be extremely careful about the trigger assy. just to avoid scratching the lower receiver. When I install a LPK, I usually duct tape the receiver just to avoid scratching the receiver. Tape residue is easier to clean off than to try to cover up a scratch. Sorry, I sometimes go off into left field on my posts.
