Good read, very interesting. That's one more reason why I don't say I'm voting all the incumbents out and replacing them with newbies.

Being a bonified bad@ss in wartime does not mean his leadership in congress has been good. He is one of the main problems we as a nation face. He fought and sacrificed for this nation in ww2 then spent most of his adult life enacting laws and regulation to limit our freedom and destroy this nation.

So yes he needs to be voted out of office. Heroic war service doesnt mean or equate with being a good leader of a nation.

His democrat party were the ones that decided he was not trustworthy enough to fight the japanese so instead imprisoned his relatives and sent him to fight germans instead...

The main guest speaker in this region for Veterans Day is a retired US Army Captain Medal of Honor Winner who became a multi-millionaire working for Ross Perot and getting into big real estate. He is one of Obama's biggest donation bundlers, is limousined everywhere he goes, and his only regret for helping put Obama in office is that he doesn't get as much federal money as he wants for veteran's activities.

He turned out to be a traitor IMO.

How 'bout ol' Colin Powell? Turns out he's been a real POS!

There is a contingent of incredibly negative people on these boards, I hope you folks can some day come to terms with what angers and fills your hearts with such hate.

If I could afford it, I'd cart every veteran around in a limo.

Hate has nothing to do with it.
Honorable military service does not excuse other acts. I served 21 years in the USAF, there really isn't anything mystical about military service. His heroic service one-ups that. It's still not a reason to get all gushy about the guy when he has had what can only be considered a consistently anti 2nd amendment tenure in public office.

There is no shortage of people that have served honorably in their nation's armed forces who afterward screwed it all up.

Oh I see now, he's a registered Democrat, I posted this from a strictly non-partisan manner showing respect to man who served his country but that seems to be too much for some. It's interesting how the Democrats who have now been pushed into the middle by extremist right pushing so hard to the direction of the "Right".

Calling Obama a "Socialist" but his voting record actually votes to the right of the Conservative Jesus Reagan, while the "Right" are allowed to throw tantrums like children and refuse to work with the other side and get away with their hateful banter, refusing to participate in our democracy all the while Democrats are required to display class and respect by working with and keep their attitudes and negative comments in check.

It must feel good having your cake and eating it to but the party is splintering at it's core, Mrs. Bush commenting on you all needing to behave and have some manners, the so called "Tea Party" ripping the divisive tear right down the middle, polling in the GOP shows that 51% oppose the tactics of the "Tea Party" and now the best your party could produce was Romney who supports abortion rights, gun control, socialized medicine and tarp.

I wish the real republicans would return but unfortunately they are dying off while the new younger version attempts the re-write history, so dig your heels in deep and refuse to budge and if our democracy fails it won't be from some Muslim infiltration, it'll be from our very own, those who refuse to participate in the greatest Governmental system of all mankind, Democracy.

Excuse me Wiebel, why are you dragging broad politics into this? This was gun-rights oriented right up until the time you made a sharp left turn. You have no idea what anyone's politics are here but we all know yours.

Please take that stuff somewhere else -- it is inappropriate. And before you go on defending the gun-owner's friend, Barach Hussein Obama, two words: Fast-n-Furious.

I don't see that here, just that Inouye's anti-gun, which he is. His was a great story, thanks, but the great part ended when he was elected. Next, are you gonna call everyone who doesn't defer to him, despite his service, or agree with you a racist? Nah, you know that dog don't hunt anymore... Continue to call for "reasonable gun control" like banning this, registering that, confiscating the other under the Democrat Party euphemism of promoting "gun safety"!?

Not to worry; you could set your watch by Bloomberg's barking, and Lautenberg will come out of the woodwork with McCarthy soon enough. As much as Leftists may resent patriots who "dig in [their] heels"...

'In any compromise between food and poison, it is only death that can win. In any compromise between good and evil, it is only evil that can profit.' -- Ayn Rand

By the way, I'm not a Republican.

OK, lets leave the party politics out of it. The man served very honorably in WWII. He then spend the next 60 odd years sh!tting on the Constitution. Does his service excuse his subsequent acts? Hell no! Lee Harvey Oswald and Charles Whitman served in the USMC and then murdered people. The Reverend Jeremiah Wright also served in the Marines. Now he spouts some of the most venomous anti-American crap that can be found in the USA. Service, no matter what degree does not give you a life long pass.

Inouye and Bob Dole recuperated together in the same Army hospital ward for 2-3 years. Inouye lost his arm; Doles arm cannot be used. Dole and Inouye have a lifelong friendship that transends petty political crap. i sincerely admire both Dole and Inouye: i also thoroughly detest draft dodgers of any political persuasion.

If not for stand up guys like Dole and Inouye west coast kids would be saluting the meatball flag; the rest of US kids would be throwing the Hitler salute.

BTW: After the war Inouye went into a barbershop in Army uniform: He was refused service by an idiot who told him: ''We don't cut Japs hair".

Glad you know Inouye's story. Now, know the barber's!?

It always amazes me, the attitude that lets someone say something like "petty politics."

Petty? At the end of the day there's not much more important in our country's and our personal life than politics. It is pervasive. But so many dismiss the import of basic civics and a citizen's responsibility. That irresponsible disposition is exactly what got us here today, praying (but not in public for heaven's sake, unless it's on a rug facing East) that one more Justice of the US Supreme Court would find that the "right of the people to keep and bear arms" meant "the people" than not.

Petty!? Maybe Dole woulda been elected if he was a man of conviction who was proud and confident enough to END a "lifelong friendship"...

    ...with a turncoat!

You dragged the party politics into it. It was previously noted that he was anti-gun and that distinguished service does not necessarily grant a pass on the rest of your life's deeds.
This is a firearms forum, if you post a puff piece on a well known anti gunner, you should expect some negative responses. There is no shortage of "go along to get along" politicians on both sides of the aisle. For what it's worth, I hold Gabbie Giffords (D-AZ) in high regard due to her not running from her pro gun position, even after all that she's been through. Also note that Nanny Bloomberg continues to call himself a republican in spite of his outwardly dictatorial/socialist leanings. So while many will generally fall to one side of the aisle or the other, it's by no means a foregone conclusion that they will follow what is generally considered the party line on all issues.
Worth noting, Adolf Hitler served during WW1. He was twice awarded the Iron Cross. He sounds like a standup guy, until you know the rest of the story.
