I decided on a buckhorn over a slug gun or a shotgun. I need a ml anyways because it's getting hard to find ammo for my rifle, and I can hunt all season if I get a ml (regular firearm + muzzleloader), I also bow hunt. I am familiar on how mls work and how to clean and load one. I have never fired one and I don't know what the recoil is like. Do they kick fast like a modern rifle or is it like a really heavy push like with slug guns? I plan to shoot 100 grains of powder (pellets) with powerbelts. Please help!!

100 g will kick pretty good, but nothing to be concerned about. Enjoy.

CVA makes some fantastic guns, so you made a great choice with the buckhorn. The kick isn't much like modern rifles, I would compare it more with the slug guns. The modern muzzle loaders do have a big quicker recoil, but it is still more of a push. Happy hunting, and let us know how you like it.

Just a FYI, CVA doesn't make anything, they're an importer. Their guns are made in Spain.

The CVA BuckHorn is a very good and accurate gun. i've scoped and sighted in several of those guns. The gun has two action screws. Some of the very expensive Knight guns have one action screw.
