I've got a 300 H&H that I'm carving a new stock for. The reason I'm doing this is because the old one is cracked at the wrist, recoil being the prime suspect. A gunsmith friend told me its probably due to a loose tang screw sometime in the past. So, a cross-bolt - ala 1950's M70 African - would seem to be an obvious solution. Any comment on this idea - is the part(s) readily available?
    Thanks!

thanks, its a little difficult to search it because I'm not positive what I'm looking for. The bolt is one thing, but whats it tied to inside the stock?

Check out the exploded diagrams of the 03's and it may help. Check with your smith and maybe he can bed the thing.
