Couldn't find anywhere else this really fit in so here goes. I am in the North Carolina Moore county area (near Fayetteville), can anyone tell me how long it actually took from the application to get their CPL? I'm planning a trip in a month and was wondering.

If I remember correctly mine was 3 ish weeks after I submitted my CCW paperwork, all depends on your sherriff.

They told me 7-8 weeks. I have a 14 hour drive coming up in a month and I would really like to have it with me.

After turning in your paperwork? How is that? My criminal history is as clean as the board of health, they should have handed mine right over(lol)!

There's nothing stopping you from having it with/on you, you just can't conceal it. Open carry is legal here without a permit, if you keep it in a place like say your glove box and get pulled over, get it out, make it visible and you should be all good.

Check the laws of your destination state to see if you can carry there as well. Here's a link...

The past few years more and more people are getting permits so it may take a while to get yours processed. Of course if you have an uncooperative sherriff, who knows...

Yeah, true. I'm going through Virginia, w. Virginia, Ohio, and finally Michigan (my destination).

It's Iowa they took my money, checked my fingerprints, snapped my picture and I was out the door. Nonetheless I don't think it took 7-8 weeks for my buddy when he got his NC CCW, of course he knew the sheriff so I'm sure that helped.

NC shares CCW reciprocity with all those states, just not sure what the law is if you're not a CCW holder. I guess I'll leave that up to you to find out!! :)

I've seen a lot of videos where people get harassed who open carry (not that its something I'm into) so I would definitely rather have a permit.

Yeah I open carried into a Hardees in Monroe, NC (just south of Charlotte) so after I walked in with my polo tucked into my dockers and my gun on my hip, I had the audicity to pay for my food and start to eat when I was then confronted by the local cops. The Hardees manager called and said I was going to rob the place

Wow, and you were just a law abiding citizen. I'm guessing he didn't apologize.

I've seen this on YouTube a lot! I don't need someone who simply doesn't agree with what I'm doing calling the police and getting me harassed because they don't know the law.
