So I ran into a fella today who said there was or is a covid problem at the biggest suppliers of copper and lead mining plants. He said its contributing to the ammo shortage. Has anyone else heard of this??

The shortage is mainly from everyone freaking out and rush buying everything off the shelves.
That made the factories fall behind in their normal production routines, then they had to start using supplies that would normally be sold for reloading - Primers,Brass,Gun Powder, for their factory ammo production. So after that, the reloading supplies dried up.

The problem is too many consumer's and not enough production in stock to keep up with the demand.

I can’t speak for lead- but the price of copper has increased 9.46% this year compared to 6.31% last year- that doesn’t seem like enough for there to be a shortage- the price would shoot up quite a bit more if there were a shortage. My understanding from talking to the owner of a local shop is that due to the shut downs- manufacturers weren’t producing as much ammo. Add the panic buying from COVID and you see a shortage- that shortage caused people to start buying as much as they could- the cycle continues and gets worse and worse. I can’t imagine it getting much better for a while- but this is all my guess and my guess is based on second hand knowledge.

No one from here. It was a guy I ran into while out getting hydraulic parts today. He seemed quite proficient in firearms, ill give him that. He's not a novice for sure, based on our conversation. But I don't believe everything i hear either. As to why I was asking my group here if anyone knows of this..

Agreed. No business can develop infrastructure for panic buying. If they did, they would have facilities and machinery sitting idle most of the time. The shortage is just one more SIW. a panic, In a panic everybody wins except the final consumer.

Spreading rumors and doing research are two completely different processes.
Your good at helping spread rumors.

    Terrible at research!
Now look-up US copper producers and check their website news.

Your opinion is much appreciated... Not!!
Maybe I don't have resources as good as "yours". If you look you'll see a question mark at the end of my "question". Witch means I was asking something not stating something.. Thank you
