This morning, Wyoming's congresswoman was the guest on a local talk radio program.

My question: "After talking with your colleagues in the House, do you think that gun control measures have any chance of passing the House?

Congresswoman's answer: "No. I think that we have a very strong bipartisan coalition in the House that will block any new gun control initiatives. There are a great number of Democrats as well as Republicans that support the 2A. I see no new gun laws passing the House.

The Congresswoman has always been a straight shooter, so I tend to believe her.

Is she prepared to raise a stink if he uses Executive Orders to usurp Congresses authority?

    Absolutely!

But that fight will really be in the courts. If we all donate to the NRA, they will fight it for us.

Of course the "IDEOLOGICALLY PURE" among us will try to stop that be constantly trashing the NRA.:(:(

I can almost guaranty that Obama will use an executive order to get his socialist policy pushed through. I think that our only real hope on this, is that it doesn't get upheld in court. For our dictator, jamming it down our throat with an executive order is the only way he gan guaranty that the bill doesn't get revised and hacked up to pass through the House of Representatives.

I hope that this is just me being pessemistic, but I'm affraid that this is the way it will go down...... :(

I sure hope Obama is ready and that everyone else is ready who supports it because if he uses an Executive Order it will hit the fan.

    This is from Wiki:

Until 1952, there were no rules or guidelines outlining what the president could or could not do through an executive order. However, the Supreme Court ruled in Youngstown Sheet & Tube Co. v. Sawyer, 343 US 579 (1952) that Executive Order 10340 from President Harry S. Truman placing all steel mills in the country under federal control was invalid because it attempted to make law, rather than clarify or act to further a law put forth by the Congress or the Constitution. Presidents since this decision have generally been careful to cite which specific laws they are acting under when issuing new executive orders.

Bush and Obama both like their Executive Orders. Obama may live in a bubble but he is not an idiot and he likes his power. He will only use an EO if he thinks he can get away with it. Anything that could be challenged or overturned may limit his power in the future.

If there is one thing Obama has done consistently it is to seek more control. He will not do anything that lessens his control. Not saying he won't try an EO or that we should not stay vigilant. I do think that it is a saber rattling threat without much likelihood.

Obama has many fights waiting in the wings, many considered more urgent by most Americans. You have to ask, is he willing to win this fight at the cost of the others? I doubt it, winning the gun control battle may cost him everything else and he knows it.

Things may be looking up. If you can afford it everyone please make an emergency contrabution to the lobbying arm of the pro-gun group of your choice, preferably the NRA-ILA since it is the largest and strongest. Make a contrabution even if you are not a member.
