Looking for a good concealable .45. I currently own the SA XD .45 compact, but it feels a little fat. I was thinking maybe the Glock 36 subcompact, .45 single stack mag. It's a little thinner @ 1.10 inches wide vs. 1.25ish for my XD. Don't know if that would really make a difference.
What do you all think? Aside from the brands. That don't even enter into the decision.
Also I do wanna stick with a .45.

I have both the XD45c and the G36. The G36 is 6+1 but 9 oz lighter than the XD45c when loaded with 10+1. G36=27 oz, XD45c=36 oz. I carry the G36. The G36 was designed for concealed carry and has been de-horned and slimmed for that purpose. I have night sights on mine. The XD45c is not a lot bigger but the weight difference is a major factor for me. The XD is a lot easier to shoot probably due to the added weight and I prefer the grip. The weight was with 230 grn HP in both pistols and I weighed them myself.

    I don't have a problem concealing a full size 1911.

    Suggestions: Para Ordnance Warthog (WHX1045R) - 6.5" OAL, 4.5" high, 3" barrel, 10+1 capacity.
    Also, Taurus PT-145 - 6.1" OAL, 5" high, 3.25" barrel, 10+1 capacity.
    Also, PARA has other 3" .45's, single stacked, plus a double-stacked PARA Carry 12, 7" OAL, 4.5"high, 3.5" barrel, 12+1 capacity.

hands down colt new agent or colt defender(if you prefer traditional sights) is a superb ccw gun. nothing beats it for concealability with its 7+1 capacity for it's size.

    here is my new agent:

I looked at the warthog. And I do like it, other than the price. And it's a double stack, so it's fatter than I'm after. I haven't been able to fondle a slim hog yet, but then again the price might be more than I like.

I'll be taking a good hard look at Springfield's XDs45 when it makes an appearance in a few months. Until then I'm considering the XDm45 3.8 compact.

G36, Kahr, and 3-4" 1911s would be the other notable options.

I know a guy that can conceal a MAK 10 with a 20 round mag. I cant do it. Weight is a major issue for me due to an injury. A full size 1911 weighs about 39 oz empty and about 45 oz loaded. I have to wear suspenders or a shoulder rig to carry my XD45c at 36 oz. The G36 at 27 oz is just under my weight limit for hanging on a belt.

Pretty nifty li'l booger, but you may need to carry 8 or 10 of them. At $800 apiece it could get kinda pricey...

I know the Glock lovers are gonna flame me for this.... But I went to the store and fondled the G36 today, it is smaller and lighter than my current XD, but it just don't feel right in my hand. Guess I'ma wait for the XDs to come out, see what that's all about. Unless I find something else that peaks my interest.
    Or maybe I'll step to a 9 or a 380. But I doubt it.
