I've broken down the bill to the best of my understanding and provided commentary....was hoping for a discussion on it...let me know if you feel as though I've interpreted anything incorrectly...

Great stuff, love the editorials. One note...New Jersey bans "assualt weapons" using a similar listing of named weapons along with the limitation of "evil black rifle" features. New Jersey also requires a FOID for the possession of both longarms and handguns, also to purchase ammo.

After spending 38 years of my life in that wretched, disgusting, freedom robbing state, I'm convinced it is a complete lost cause regarding any and all firearms rights. Illinois is a liberal, Democratic, socialist, utopia. You will NEVER have conservative representation in that state. It just keeps getting worse every year.

I left there in 1991 and it was the worst state in the union then for gun control. I can't imagine what it's like now. Illinois is a total lost cause regarding firearms. Fighting the good fight only matters if you can win at some point. That is all but totally impossible in Illinois. That is not a defeatist attitude, but rather a realistic one.

The state is completely broke in spite of having some of the highest property taxes in the nation. I just don't understand how and why people stay there anymore. Unless of course you are one of the many waiting for a government handout.

When you add it all up moving was the only option left. I did it and I'm very glad I did. It wasn't easy, (we didn't know a single soul when we moved to Arizona), but I'm extremely happy I did. What I've saved in property taxes alone in the past 21 years has more than paid for every firearm I've bought. And a great many of them I wouldn't even be allowed to own in that stink hole. My advice to anyone who lives there, and likes and want to keep firearms as a part of their life, is to GET OUT! Illinois will never get better......only worse. I won't even get into their rotten weather and climate.

Lol not waiting on a government handout... Not sure where that came from...

My job pays me VERY well... If I could find an equally paying job outside of Illinois I would go, in a heartbeat

So does mine. I wasn't referring to you personally regarding handouts. Just in the millions of minorities that state seems not just to attract, but support as well. As far as monitary gain, I don't know what field you're in, but I can attest to the fact the overall cost of living out here more than makes up for any increased salary you might think your benefiting from by staying there.

Not to mention the fact your cars will last all but indefinitely out here if properly cared for, compared to what the salt and snow does to them back there. About the only thing that erodes quicker than a automobile in Illinois, are your firearms rights.

NJ allows one Version of the M4, it cannot have a bayonet lug or collapsable stock an only a 10rd mag too..

That Said NJ and California are the only 2 states in the USA that do not include the words the "RIGHT TO BARE ARMS" in the states Constitution, im pretty sure Illinois does, making the laws unconstitutional if so.. Anyhow, I no longer concern self w NJ ridiculous FA Laws as in now a PA resident, the state thar believes its a God Given right like Air is to all to own a FA !

    1. I like Illinois. I detest the Chicago area, which seems to be the tail wagging the rest of the dog.

    2. Good editorial. Do not assume that a stated purpose of any politician is the purpose. These folks have their own agenda- being reelected is high on that agenda. I like the way we do it in Virginia. You're the Governor? 4 years, then out. Bye bye.

    3. Have spent a few years designing presentations. Lesson from the Society of Illumination Engineers- Red type on a black background= illegible. As does Canary Yellow on white. Try Bright yellow against Royal Blue.

The morons writing these laws are bigger criminals than the people caught sporting "Assault Weapons". Seriously, what even is an "Assault Rife"? I can assault somebody with my grandfathers bolt action .22. Is that an assault rifle?

Very true. It's always been that way with Chicago politicians. How many of their governors are either in jail, or have spent time there? But you cannot argue logic with these people. To them it doesn't have a thing to do with guns, and everything to do with CONTROL.

My uncle actually supports this and gun control but he claims he supports the second amendment.

Here in Virginia, we usually send our former Governors to the Senate. There in Illinois, they send them to Joliet. :p

How about these Big City Mayors ? Bloomburg is Anti Gun yet Drives in a Hardened,Bomb Proof, Bullet Resistant up to .50 Cal SUV w Run Flat Tires w a Team of PSD Detectives carrying 5k in Rounds, MP-5's plus Handguns in 2 SUV's, he claims Central Park is safe and threatens anyone carrying a FA will do 3-5 w/o exception... I could safely stroll thru Kabul using pages of the Koran as Toilet Paper w his PSD team, how unrealistic !

I think if you are a politian that supports and tries to pass any form of FA banning or regulation type legislation you should banned from firearms. You should not be allowed to have armed bodyguards while you disarm your citizenry. You should have EVERY gun you own confiscated. And you should wear a sign that reads, "I am the mayor/Representative/Senator. I am unarmed and unprotected. I want to take your freedom away." Then they should walk through the most dangerous part of town alone, just like in the Die Hard movie.

Bloomberg is one of the numerous idiots who inherit big money, then consider themselves to be a superior species worthy of special priviledge and "rights" that us riff-raff are not worthy of. After all, his life, wealth, and power are all that matter. It's why the Universe was created 13.7 billion years ago. He and his cronies are the beneficiaries it was all designed for. :D
The dynasty in Chicago is much the same. Nobody but the dignitaries are worthy of any rights, safety, self-respect, or freedom.

I think, that if you ban guns from citizens, take them from LE too. Because, after all, why would they need guns if nobody else can have them?

    Oh wait, what was that?

Criminals will still have guns? WHAT!?

I would guess that one of the reasons criminals migrate to Chicago is that they know their prey will be unarmed and defenseless. Chicago has long been dedicated to keeping the streets safe for criminals.
