I am reading that the Colt series 80 is not a 1911 per se`, but a 1991A1 is this true? Does this make it a better or worse firearm? Indifferent perhaps? What approximate value is this weapon?

Ultimately, I am making a trade for one, but it will cost me my beloved Wynona. I don't mind a good trade since 1911s fit better in my hand, but I also don't want to get azz raped either...BTW, for those who don't know, Wynona is a SIG P220 .45 ACP

The 1911 and A1 differ in the trigger, safety and main spring housing.

The series 70 introduced the "finger bushing" for better accuracy.

The series 80 gave us the passive firing pin block.

The 1991 is a series 80 1911A1. All 1991's are series 80 but not all series 80's are 1991's. There are series 80 Gold Cups, Delta's, Commanders, Officer's Models and Defenders

Thanks for the info. This is a commander, if that makes any difference.

Hi everyone. I just bought a Colt a few days ago, model number 01091. Are there any downsides to this gun? Does anybody else use this same model?

It's a Colt 1991A1 Govt Model, .45ACP, Stainless Steel, spur hammer, series 80 action, blade sights, solid long trigger, A1 grip safety and a flat MSH.

A great modern production of the M1911A1. You'll love it!

    What's not to like?

    It's a COLT!!!

I'm not a fan of the blade sights, but other than that, it look like a nice piece.

Making a break for the dark side Ineff?

Don't get me wrong, I love my SIG, and I'm good with with it... but it's slightly large on the grip and I keep thinking about how nice the Springfield 1911 felt in my hands. I'm just too big a gun snob to own (or be seen with) a Springfield. I want the best.

I don't recognize that as a colt 1911 model number.

You sending me on a search for the left handed crescent wrench? [IMG]

See, that's what I thought too. One more reason not to do business with strangers. He yanked his ad too. Bastage. Was a pretty gun and I already love Colts

I ran that number (FL03594E) as a S/N and it too doesn't fit.

Thought with an X at the end it might have been an Enhanced model but the FL is foreign to Colt.

I tried without the FL, changed the 03594E to O3594E, nothing. Sorry.

Being that you advertise for those guys so much, maybe you could work out a group buy with them. Give 'em a call and see what a batch of 10 GRP Recons would cost you. I want mine in Sniper Gray with gray handles and Heinie Slant-Pro sights.

Now you only have to sell 9 more.

You like those Heinie Slant Pros? I can't get my head around the flat black rear sight. I'm retarded that way....

You find me even 5 guys who are serious about adding a Nighthawk, not including me as I will be adding another anyways, and I will get us all a good deal. Not only do I know a guy with great prices, I got a personal e-mail from the Sales and Marketing Guru after my Valhalla review.

I am SURE they would be willing to deal... :D

It's that or the Novaks and I absolutely abhor adjustable sights on pistols.

Our newest moderator seems to be in the market for a nice 1911. If I can get a GRP Recon in 9mm, I'll take 2. There's 3.

Do you have the "buy 5 get one free" punch card?

edit: geeze, this thread looks like a staff meeting.
