A friend of mine has a colt .38 super with the .22 conversion kit. It is missing the guide rod and spring to make it work. I shoot a GSG and know that the slides are extremely different in weight. Where could I get them? Also for mags he could use the same style as the kimber conversions correct?

I have the colt in .38 super as well as the colt .22 conversion, I will pull it out this weekend and see if I can get some sense of what you need, I may have the parts list. Good place to check may be gunbroker.com
