I'll start this. Anyone else from around here? I wanna go shootin! JT
FORMER resident of Douglas County here. You need to hunt up the Ben Lomond Gun Club. HQs there in the Springs. 500 acre range out beyond Kiowa. Dues were reasonable, you DO need to be NRA member.
yeah I'm here from the springs, so where do you shoot at?
I'm a member of Frontier Sportsman's Club, an outdoor range. Whispering Pines Club is an indoor range that costs quite a bit more. Dragon Man has an outdoor range that is open to the public
I have a 100 yd range in the back pasture. Out east.
I don't do too much shooting anywhere else =)
Rumor has it that ft carson is building a range that will be open to the public. I heard it was approved, but haven't looked in to it.
Yep, they are breaking ground soon I believe, don't know of completion date. Supposed to be 6 ranges open to the public 7 days a week.
Just found this. I swear an article I read this winter said they would break ground in April, guess they are behind schedule. Here is an update, looks like they plan to be completed late summer '12.
Nice.. we'll see if it happens =) ..
Supposedly the range at Carson is open. I haven't been there yet but heard from two others that it was open. Exit 132 off I-25 west about 200 yards.
Trying to find a way to get there. LOL
The website for the range is not live yet, http://www.fortcarson.isportsman.net, and I can't find anything that says it is open in a quick google search but I will keep looking. Perhaps if it is open I will try and swing by this weekend.
That website is for on base hunting and shooting.
Here is the latest info from Ft Carson,
County Public Range
Outside of Gate #20, I-25 at exit 132
Opening about Nov 28th 2012
Operated by MWR – Building 2429
MWR hours Tues-Fri 10a-6p, Sat 8a-1:30p
Hope to see you there,
Opening has been pushed back to 1-28-13. No reason given.
Will try to keep you all updated.
I currently belong to Whistling Pines, and Ben Lomond (which is 50 miles from my house).
I also go to Dragonman's sometimes, or to the National Forest near Woodland Park ... off of Rampart Range road.
Right now, I'm waiting for the hysteria to end (if it ever does). I like to keep in practice with my Ruger 9mm P95. But not willing to give up any more ammo.
Cheyenne Mountain Shooting Complex is supposed to open on 1-23-13. They are supposed to have their own office too. Will update on that day after I find out if they are really open.
I saw that on the news, and got an email from DOW.
Thanks for keeping us updated!
They have a website. Also I called and talked to the facility manager. Onn the 23rd, there will be a ribbon shooting invitation only from 11:00am till 1:00pm. At 1:30pm they will open for public with free shooting from 1:30pm-4:00pm that day. Manager sounds very friendly and willing to help others.
Hope to see you there,
Ps: here is the site:
9mm ammo at the WalMart in Fountain
I was in the Walmart in Fountain this morning. --- Monday, 2/4/13
They had about 20 or 30 boxes of Federal 9mm 115 grain ammo.
I could only buy 3 boxes.
Thought someone might like to know. The lady said they'd been there for days.
The New Range. Nice.
I went to the new range outside of Fort Carson's gate 20.
It was really nice for a gun range, and not at all crowded on a Tuesday morning.
