I clean with hopes and lube with G96 which is a clp.

That's how I grew up doing it. I like the smell of G96.

I use break free clp on all of my firearms and I've had no problems at all.

CLP is quite good. But so is Hoppe's and Ballistol as well. Great cleaners.

I prefer the separate items. To be fair, CLP does the job, for the most part. At the end of it, I feel a stand alone oil is going to work better.
Additionally, CLP is NOT a substitute for a proper slide grease, IMHO.
    Opinions vary of course.

Clp does a good job of removing carbon deposits but its not a standalone. You still need a good bore solvent. I use it as a preservative as well.

what overkill said. i use clp, but then i use hoppes for the bore, a separate oil for the outter frame and metal parts, and a proper slide grease for the slide.

I use CLP for my 7.62 Saiga and Mossberg 835 pump, separate cleaner and lube for others.
