    Hello All:
What's the best way to clean your India and Arkansas stones that are used for polishing small metal parts?

    Thanks,

Any good light weight oil and a stiff nylon brush works well to loosen the imbedded metal. Then wipe it away with a paper towel.

I have had good luck with a scotch pad and hot soapy water.

Dove dishwashing soap and a small brush or toothbrush works great. Rinse well and let dry.

Make a paste of TSP (available at most paint stores) and water. If you leave it on the stone overnight, very little if any scrubbing will be necessary.

i use a small brush and Dawn on my whetstones for my knives as polishing stones are similar, just a lot finer. i scrub mine with a brush and Dawn, under hot running water in the kitchen sink, then rinse completely and just set them in the drain rack to drip dry.
