Howdy yall, I've been looking into getting the classic lee loader sets (the one that uses a hammer) for my 1911 and AR-15. My question is would .223 reloaded from this type of set be safe to fire through my AR (it's a Stag Arms) and feed reliably?

I believe that the classic Lee Loader neck sizes only. As result, your ammo may not feed reliably in a semi-auto.

Cotton top is right. Rather than the Lee Loader, why not go cruise Flebay, check for a used press, and a used set of dies. Price may surprise you.

I have seen the Lee package deals at around $90. Not as heavy as a Rockchucker but it works. Lee also makes a hand press. You can build up your muscles as you load.

After you pound out about 100 rounds you'll wish you had spent the money on a press. The lee loader might be handy to throw in a saddle bag but it ain't something you want to use to load any quantity of ammo.

If you are concerned about cost, you could check out the Smart Reloader Press. Google it, they are not hard to find. I just bought one for around $20. It is a no frills single stage press, but it is much better built than what it looks like in the pictures. In fact it is somewhat heavy duty. Idf you don't have a work bench to bolt it too, you can C-clamp it to a table, then put it away when you are done reloading. All you would need then is a set of dies. Like C3 said, check out used dies on the bay. I just bought a set of dies from ebay for $10.
