Im looking to get a long range (600-800) yards semi auto 308. So far ive looked at the dpms lr308, the m1a socom and the fnl. I like the looks of the dpms. It's obviously gonna have a huge optic since I can't see. I'm looking to stay under $2000.00 for just the rifle. I want a long range rifle for an eow scenario not just paper punching or hunting. What is everybody's favorites? What are some pros and cons?

Why not go with a bolt?

kdub, that's stretching a long ways for most semi-auto rifles, even with a good scope. the main one in 308 that really seems able to fit your needs is the Springfield Armory M1A in 308. these things are built solid and reliable and are pretty dang accurate. you could still get one in your price range. standard model is about $1300-1450 and they make a match grade and national match grade. these are a little higher than the standard model.

I'm somewhat in the same boat. I'm plaining on going with m1a as soon as my funds allow.

    I have a DPMS LR308. I had an M1A.

IME, any AR type 308 beats out the old M1A hands down.

my suggestion would still be an M1A over the AR in 308. i have an AR in 5.56mm, but i would prefer the 308 in the M1A. just my opinion. i have never shot an AR chambered in 308, but did own an M1A many years ago and truly loved that rifle. will be getting another one in the near future.

I would check out ArmaLite AR10(T). Target model, 20" barrel, free floated HG, 1 MOA. Less than $2000.

I have an AR10A4CB and absolutely love it. If I were in the market for a long range rifle it's where I'd go.

I have a DPMS LR308B, my first rifle purchase actually, and she is a dream to shoot. Very solid, very accurate and I would have all the confidence in the world that she could reach out to 600-800yds.
