chips on barrel

    new Smith & Wesson revolver, after shooting about 100 rounds, i noticed small chips on the end of the barrell, never had a revolver before, is this normal, or should i call S&w?

    Do you mean "chips" as in pieces of the finish flaking off? A picture might help some people.

    Don't eat while shooting. If you get chips on your barrel they should come off with hoppes...

    I have this issue a lot. Hoppes is the key to safe removal.

    not sure it works on chocolate, or ketchup.

    It probably would :p hoppes will clean just about anything

    So I'm guessing the chips were an illusion by the OP.

    Without pics it is hard to tell. Could be lead residue at the crown or something that requires a trip to S&W
