It is hugely disappointing and unconscionable that 50 members of the U.S. Senate as well as at least one senator who caucuses with the President’s party would deny President Biden his choice to lead the ATF. It is even more concerning that they would do so by parroting the talking points of the gun lobby, which has spread misinformation and blatant lies about David Chipman since his nomination was announced," Brady United President Kris Brown said.

"It is immoral and indefensible that the only agency with regulatory oversight over the gun industry has been permitted to persist for so many years without leadership, because of the outsized influence the gun industry has over what used to be considered ‘the world’s greatest deliberative body,’" Brown added. She also said that "we cannot continue to allow this position to be senate-confirmable."

In other words don't let the door hit ya' on the way out.

Read Brown's last sentence again and let that sink in.

Yes and she has no business being there either!
Like Chipman she has little respect for the Second Amendment and OUR RIGHTS!
IMO I will second it! Do not let the door hit either one of them in the Arsssss!;)
But absolutely Great that Idiot was not accepted! A lot of these Politicians never learn.
Attack our Second Amendment Rights and a lot of them get voted out of Office the next Election. Every one of us regardless of being a Traditional Democrat, (Not a Socialist Dem!) Republican, Independent or other need to take a stand against these people in every Election.
Rather than just going to the Poll and Voting. We need to research political stances of all who are running prior to going to the Polls!. IMO that is how the idiots get elected. No one takes the time to do research and only votes for the Party.
That is one reason I belong to the NRA. When elections roll around in that issue of magazine they give Candidates a Rating. I will vote for no one who is rated C - D or F. And take a close look at those with a B Rating.
To be sure they are not a Wolf in Sheep's Clothing when it comes to our Second Amendment and our Rights!;)
And I look very closely at their past not just the present! Moral of the story most Politicians will be Politicians and the Wind Blows!

The ATF should be without funding as well as a leader. The agency is a blatant violation of the 2nd Amendment.

He wasn’t derailed because of his position on guns and the second amendment.
He was derailed because of a comment he made that was deemed to be racist, the gold standard for ruining someone.
It had nothing directly to do with the position he was up for.
You can bet that the next nominee will be equally hostile toward the second amendment and private gun ownership, or will probably be even worse.
But, they will make sure that this next nominee is more woke and has better Twitter etiquette.

Glad to see that the Administration has caved, on this one. Never should have nominated a died-in-the-wool anti-gunner and determined rights destroyer like Chipman. I'm sure he was getting all runny, inside, knowing how he'd be able to tweak definitions to screw with upstanding people's rights. Of course, whomever the Administration next nominates isn't likely to be a stickler for the pesky Constitution either. Keep your ears and eyes open, for the next shot across the bow of the Constitution.

Why bother with those pesky senate confirmations.
Still, it's better than a one-man band.

I'd much rather have 100 self-aggrandizing, power-mongering fools who've got their own conflicting agendas than to have a single person being capable of doing however he/she pleases. Ain't perfect, but it sure is better than a one-stop-shop for change.

He was a really poor choice, for sure. His next one'll probably be from the Taliban (well, liberal Taliban anyway). Heard little lately on Joe's remarks from long ago regarding turning public schools into jungles (or something like that). Hard to find anyone who's not said something offensive in their lifetime. First, Brown needs to understand that is exactly how the system works and was designed to work. We intentionally do not allow one person that much leeway to do what they please. I would argue that the President and Congress, in fact, have far too much leeway as it is. The Federal government way overstepped its bounds a long time ago.

I know many are calling for term limits, but I am not satisfied with that alone. We have agencies in the government that should be outright done away with, the ATF being one. More than that, we the people need something other than elections and relying on our "representatives" to hold each other accountable. We need some other type of panic button, a way to recall or to oust those who do not uphold their oath of office, something other than what we currently have.

Sigh...guess I better get to it. Have about 35 rounds of 22-250 I have to pull bullets on. Apparently firing it once blows the shoulders out too much. I reloaded them with just neck sizing and the bolt won't close or is extremely hard to close on them. Time to go bump some shoulders...

Chipman needs to join a carnival freak show. Besides being a useless part of humanity(?), what has he ever done to advance mankind from a bigger picture point of view? He and Fauci should hold hands as they disappear from OUR payroll. I just don't want to get started tonight right before bedtime....

As mentioned above, you can bet the next candidate will be every bit as bad, just a little further under the radar. Meanwhile, Fearless Leader has said he'll find Chitman a spot that doesn't require Senate confirmation. We haven't heard the last of this guy.

I hear the next nominee is going to Beto O'Rourke. Biden told him that he was going to pick him to go door to door to get peoples assault weapons ! I'm ready to watch that !

Yeah, he had better not consider doors in my neighborhood, especially while on a skateboard. Where do these people come from? Of all the brilliant minds in this country, look at who gets chosen to "lead". Never ceases to amaze me.

I know it's not PC to judge people by their looks but, on the other hand....the face is said to be a mirror to the soul.
So...should this guy be in charge of anything? Especially a government agency! He is the personification of a nutcase!
