    My effort with this Qing dynasty era 88 rifle. Not in the best shape but I was determined to shoot it anyway.

    Good video! Thanks for posting it. I just picked a somewhat later version of the Chinese Mauser 2 weeks ago. Unfortunately, the corrosion over the years has treated it rather badly, with most markings requiring a strong light and magnifying glass to read.

    I know in 1935, the Type 24 Mauser was introduced, called the Chiang Kai Shek rifle, and it was more modern. But it never fully replaced the Hanyang and only about half a million of the real Chinese mausers got made. I hope you might be able to bring yours to life with light cast handloads like I managed.
