Hiya.

I've just registerd here, but I've been lurking for a while... I'm not new to online forums, but until now I have just been active on car sites (got here from the JeepForum.com banner) - I've got a corvette (my Daily Driver) and a Jeep XJ (weekend toy) and between those, I read about a dozen forums every day... Hopefully I'll find time to fit this in too, since I have always been very interested in firearms.

As far as that goes... I've still got my 13th birthday present... A nice wooden case with a 20 gauge pump-action (Sears brand, actually) and a Winchester model 94, 30-30. (just had that refinished.. looks GREAT with the frame in satin-nickel and re-blued barrel) - Rounding out the long guns I have a I have a Ruger 10/22 and an SKS (Chinese, I bought new pre-ban). I also own a Springfield WWII spec 1911, a PT-92 (Taurus), a Baretta 21 (.22 cal), a Dan Wesson 357 (with 2, 6 and 8" barrels for it) and my Great-Grand-Father's 38 revolver. (long story there...)

I go shooting as often as I can (never enough) and I love camping and outdoor activity, but as fate would have it, I've only been hunting twice in my life and never even glimpsed anything either time. I just never met anybody with land for hunting... Maybe I'll meet somebody here.

Anyway, that's me in a nutshell.

Oh,
And after kicking around here for the past few days, I finally got off the fence and bought a new Remington 870 with the factory extended mag. The store I bought it from also had a Knoxx stock for it so I had it modded before I've sent a single shell through it...

This site might turn out to be too expensive for me...

:D

Welcome, Fozzy. I haven't been here too long either but long enough to know there's a good bunch here. You'll do well here but yeah, try controlling that gun buying! LOL!

By the way... nice gun collection you have!

Well, I already have an expensive hobbie (which I assume by your handle you're familiar with... :D )

But I actually got active here because I had already made the choice to buy a 12ga and I wanted to do a bit of research. After getting it backwards once, I try to do it in that order... I bought my first corvette BEFORE I found corvetteforum.com and I made some choices that could have been better if I had found that site earlier. (Not "Mistakes" per se; but I would have done things a little different)

I had narrowed the choice down to a short-list and once I did just a bit of looking the Remmy 870 seemed the obvious choice. The ability to customize was a consideration and once I looked, the aftermarket for the 870 is pretty much untouchable by any of the other guns on my previous list. - I had added the Win-1300 and M-500 once I read some comparisons here and a few other sites, but when I wandered into the local range/shop (on an unrelated trip to the range) and saw a great price on the 870 (WITH the factory extended mag and short barrol) I felt comfortable "pulling the trigger" so-to-speak, on the purchase.

I had mentioned to the guy running the paperwork that I had researched heavily online and that I had already selected the first mod. He looked me in the eye and said (with a statement type tone, not in a questioning way) "a Knoxx spec-ops recoil damping stock."" (which, of course, was exactly right). So I said "yeah, but its a shame everywhere I've looked is backordered." - that's when he smiled and pointed to the wall behind me where there were 3 hanging on a hook. - He mentioned that he was upset about it bacause they were all for the Remmy and he was waiting for one to come in for his M-500.

I had to borrow the extra long 3/16" ball-tiped allen wrench from a friend, but I finally got it installed and I'm waiting for this weekend to take it out and put some shot downrange.

Of course, there's a pretty good gun show coming to town this weekend, so I might have the delima of missing a good show, or waiting two weeks to test my new gear... Who knows, maybe I'll have a laser, or red-dot, or some other what-not on the gun before I get to fire it....

Maybe, but after getting this one gun hooked up, I'll probably be sending my money on my Jeep for the rest of the year.
