They were celebrating even with FTEs and a melted guide rod!

I guess they could pour the kool aid on the hot slide and barrel.

What a waste of 1K rounds and 17 mins of my life!

I counted 5 jams before I decided not to spend another 13 minutes of my life watching the video.

Well..I have actually been wanting to see one of those since I seen the one with the Para Ord. And the unedited vid shows the Glock having a few hiccups. And that lower bore axis I often hear is so much easier on the shooter that the 9mm needed more than one guy to sling the lead.

No, I really don't see the need for these tests but they are kind of fun to watch. No one is going to ever be in a situation where you are going to have to do something like that. Anmd if you are. You have brought a knife to a gun fight. Cause someone is shooting at you with a bunch of rifles it would seem.:D

This test really proves nothing. Other than if you plan on needing to shoot 1K rounds you best have another weapon. One made to sling 1K rounds...Like a machine gun!

basically all that video did was prove that a glock 19 can catastrophically fail after 1000 rounds. and did anyone else catch that the one big guy couldn't get the mags to drop free about half the time. I would consider this somewhat of a problem.

Yeah, looks like it does what it's supposed to... sort of.
I would have rather seen it done with a G20 of even a G21. 9mm is they lightest round the could have picked.

I was wondering why Tango, of all people, posted this. So. I honestly tried to watch the whole thing. I could NOT make it through the whole thing. I watched about 5 minutes of the first video and the last 6 to 8 minutes of the second one.

I will say that the weapon was doing everything the Glock guys say it will do. *shrug*

I don't know of one single situation when one would need to put 68 loaded magazines through a weapon - but I guess you can take solace in the fact knowing that your Glock 19 will be about 98% reliable if you ever have to do so.

Now, a melted guide rod is kind of an issue for me, personally. If it's not needed, why is it there? But, in Gock's favor, they proved that the weapon will still shoot, pretty reliably, without a guide rod in it.

Now, will the weapon shoot accurately with a melted guide rod and something "rattling around inside"?? Well, that is for you, dear reader, to decide for yourself.

Personally I have pretty much always said the damn thing will shoot no matter what abuse the moron behind the trigger has done to it. Now, will it shoot accurately and will it do what you need it to do, when you need it to?

I don't know. But I stand by the assessment that the weapon is not for me personally.

I had a question and it is not a slam to any other guns out there:

Are Glock owners the only ones that believe their guns can take this abuse?

I only see Glocks in these "tests" and I'm not saying they're practical but I've never seen an XD or 1911 test.

Yeah MGH, I keep hearing that. I have it on my list of things to do, buy an entry level 1911 and put it through some real world tests.

The problem is, in my case, there is no way in hell I would subject my beautiful 1911's to running 1,000 rounds through it in under 20 minutes just to say I did.

With a Glock, its a cheap pistol, so if you destroy one, you aren't out a grand, or more.

As for the XD, I don't know. I never looked to see if anyone did a torture test on one.

I just think that by the time you reach a point in life where you get a 1911, you have lost all interest in trying to "prove" to a bunch of fools you don't know how great it is.

Those that know, know they love it - and in that, we believers are fine without throwing them out of airplanes and running 1000 rounds through them.

I just thought everyone would like to see it. Then know for a fact that glocks are the best evea. I am going to trade my Kimber for 2 of them now.

I have seen the light and I will never go back to the old crusty out dated 1911. We should put it in the grave and let it die a peaceful death.

To admit it I didn't watch the entire movies. I had to ff to the end of each one....

I have others and will not subject them to test like that. Abuse wise, all guns can take some abuse and neglect - would I subject mine to that - NO! The only neglect, is not getting to the range - that is neglect!

I agree -I would not subject any weapon - to that stress test, nor on my finger(s).

Now, Glock is not cheap for a 9mm $595.00; however, since purchasing my first Glock 9mm in 1994 for almost the same amount of money. Thge shocker overtime, price usually rises with the Glock 19 they have not; but, it depends on the stores sellng them too. I have seen locally Glock 9mm with no mods, selling from 650 to 1000 dollars and that was used!

I think with the Military or LEO discount, new Glocks can be had in the $300 range. For a shooting site that does training, that is a drop in the bucket for them to spend and hock to their "students".

Even so, there are hundreds of thousands of LEO trade in Glocks out there, heavily used, but still very much capable for cheaper than $500.

I was just merely stating that in comparison, buying and torturing a Glock is a price that can be swallowed by someone willing to burn through 1000 rounds in 20 minutes.

Up until recently, the LE (or military price) for a standard Glock was $398.20 + tax. It recently went up to about $425 I think. Yes, as retired military I can get a Glock this cheap - but my question has always been why?
