I'm looking for a scope at around $200. It doesn't have to be really fancy or have a really high magnification maybe a 3x9 or so. I would like recommendations on a brand/model. This will be mounted on a 30 06. Thanks.
i with Doc. Nikon or the Redfield. both are quite good scopes for the price and both have an excellent reputation for quality. my only small gripe would be on the Nikon, mine has the BDC reticle and if i bought another i would go with the NickoPlex reticle instead. just my preference.
I picked up a Bushnell Elite last year in the 180 ballpark, I hadn't been a fan of Bushnell for quite some time but a guy recommended this scope to me so I gave it a whirl, it's a 3x9 40mm, it is very clear and does a darn fine job of collecting light in the evening. Mine also has the Firefly reticle, you can shine a light through it and the cross hair glows green, comes in handy.
Check www.natchezss.com to see if they have any Nitrex TR1 scopes left. Last time I looked still had some in power range you want. Nitrex was discontinued and there prices were heavily discounted. The TR1 Nitrex are basically Weaver Grand Slam scopes, same optics, internals, made in same Japanese plant and etc. Warranty on them handled by Weaver. Anyway, get a $300 plus scope for around $130. Own a couple of the Nitrex scopes myself and if they had higher power ones left, I wouldn't hesitate a second to buy it.
I was looking yesterday for a light weight scope for my BLR and Optics Planet had a Redfield Revolution 2-7x33 with bdc for $190 delivered. You could also find a Burris Fullfield II 3-9x40 bdc in that price range. Lots of decent scopes at $200.
