Well it was a nasty day outside so my father and I decided to start on the gun closet we had been talking about making. First we emptied all the stuff out of the closet, Talk about a tedious task.

This is where we are at now.

very cool. are those handgun cases? a small vault would be pretty sweet for those!

how about some locking bars for the long guns?

Yup those are handgun cases, and there is three more above those. We have been thinking about getting a handgun safe, still looking around to see what will be the most useful. Currently we have a deadbolt on the door, maybe we will incorporate a locking bar for the guns.

I may be over thinking it, i tend to go for overkill. Either way the closet looks great!

You call that "cheap closet storage"...
    I call it... AN ARSENAL!

Maybe a strip of wood towards the bottom with a locking devise of sorts. You could pad something to wrap around the stock. If it's all connected they would have to rip everything out of the all to take it which wouldn't be the easiest task. Either that or a saws all.

    Very nice work though.

Good looking storage. Nice collection, too. As above stated, I would pad the barrel notches and maybe use some of that grid underneath, a couple inches up to keep the arsenal from resting on the floor, busted pipes can happen.
Not sure what would be the best for a locking bar/retention. A cable comes to mind, but that can be a pain to mess with.

Very nice indeed. I can see that you are severely lacking in the long gun department:D

Gun show this weekend, I am stocking up there!:D
Most of all other ammo has been shot up recently on the nice weather days.

Thanks for all the positive comments. Hopefully i will get some padding put in to protect the barrels and more pictures shall follow.

Would you pick me up 500 rounds or so of some quality .45ACP 230gr ball while you're at the gun show? I'm also kinda low on .223/5.56. Thanks. ;)

    I'll cover the shipping.

Some felt like they use for pool table covers and a hot glue gun ought to do the trick...very nice job by the way. A nice commercial grade deadbolt and a single door alarm will deter all but the most determined thieves.

Very nice! Suggestion- for floor- two boards- lower board solid, about 8 inches wide. Second board, sitting on top of that, with oval cutouts routed through it for butt to sit in.

For a small handgun safe- Harbor Freight has a .71 cu ft safe on sale thru 3-31 for $59. Digital lock. It aint Ft Knox, but should slow down average punk with a screwdriver. Anybody wants it, I have electronic coupon, send me a PM, will send you coupon.
