Century Arms AK

So I had a question, so some of you know I got my first AK not too long ago and it’s a Century Arms C39v2. Pretty well made and built in my opinion. Will soon be taking it hog hunting hopefully here in the next week or so. However, I had the rifle leaning against some plastic containers while I was messing around with some stuff earlier today and it slid and fell on carpet with a thump (I’m about to be a baby here for a second lol) but it’s fine right? I cycled and dry fired it and all looks same as usual.

I’ve bumped my AR’s into things countless times and they still go bang and so I was wondering if the AK platform is just as forgiving as the AR platform.

Another thing is does anyone own the same model AK as well? I was doing some googling to kill some time and the C39v2 is liked by most people and others have a tendency to talk trash about it and that it’s not worth the money or that It tends to fail after a certain amount of rounds such as a few hundred to a thousand.

For the occasional shooting, it’s a blast to shoot! But whatcha y’all think, good choice on a first AK?

It is fine. Not to worry about that fall.

As good as any unless you wish to spend $2000 to $4000 for one.

Nahhhhhh, I’m good! 😎
you need to watch Rob Ski's YT vid of his year long 5k torcher test of the VSKA , it will put your mind to ease on your little tip over , he abused it unconditionally and at the end he had to nit pic that the sling swivel broke to find something to complain about
I wish I had one (not going to be a "wish" someday). They sure did serve the NVA and VC quite well in an old proxy war we should have stayed out of.

Back to the OP's subject, if any of my guns wouldn't take a drop like that, I'd get rid of it. I can't think of one I have that wouldn't be fine. My AR-15 and super-fantastic Mini-14 would take it fine. Another 2 cents....:)

I appreciate y’all’s reply’s. I got over that subject lol, watched plenty of YouTube videos to ease my mind about it, put rounds through it. I can say so myself I’ve never had problems, clearly made a good choice and love it! Good AK overall.

So which is a better gun, the AK or AR, ..........PANDEMIC?? I know more AK's have been made....like to the tune of 100 MILLION!!!!! Just looked that up. THIS >>>>>is interesting too....the interweb knows everything.....

It makes one wonder why the "mass shooters" don't use AK's.....

Is an AK 47 more powerful than a AR-15?

The Great Debate AK47 vs AR15

The AK-47 shoots a 7.62x39mm caliber that penetrates and damages its intended target greater than the caliber shot from an AR-15. With this larger caliber, the AK-47 has greater "stopping power" than the 5.56/. 223 round of the AR-15.Mar 14, 2018

i hadnt owned a US made AK , walked into one of my LGS and they had a VSKA in , poly furniture , had some money burning a hole in my poket and it ended up following me home , i had don a great deal of research given the bad publicity the RAS47 was embroiled in and i was confident that Century had if anything over corrected the issues that plagued the RAS47

i get home , i head back to my range and must say , found it very uncomfortable to shoot , wreaking havok on my sholder socket , so i only put maybe 200 rds through that day , but it functioned flawlessly , great ejection pattern , i put a midwest industries QD mount with a Leupold RDS , grouped great and sighted right in

so i actually felt the shoulder the remainder of the night (i was 57 at the time)so i kept thinking why does this AK feel so unpleasant and all the rest are the opposite , figured the poly furniture , next day i took a Yugo AKM butt stock i had and fitted it to the VSKA , took it out and it was night and day , turned into a totally different rifle , spent the rest of the day fitting all the furniture with Yugo parts , and then mixed up some shellac and tinted to cherry , also took a AK74 muzzle brake and replaced that birdcage ,and polished the bolt carrier

I would go with an AR, and that’s just my personal opinion. And that’s just fact that the AR is the most popular sporting rifle in North America due to its capabilities of being highly customizable both in/out to suit ones specific needs compared to the AK.

Now don’t get me wrong I love the AK, easier to break down, less parts involved when cleaning. Much more easier platform to learn and understand as far as mechanics of the firearm goes. Doesn’t require cleaning as often, and the ammo is cheaper. Which means more shooting. Other things to consider is it’s not as highly customizable as the AR, I mean you can customize it to a certain degree just not as to a high level like the AR. And it has a reputation to operate in some of the most extreme environments in the world.

As far as calibers go, Kalashnikov’s invention was designed in a time of war where the Red Army was in desperate need of a new machine gun. So 1947 was the year the AK was born. Automatic Kalashnikov, (Automatic- being a machine gun) (Kalashnikov, Mikhail’s last name) and (47) being the year the final blue prints were made, production started, tested, finished and mass produced.

Long story short, just something pulled from the web 5.56 vs 7.62 in a nutshell.

It’s a big oversimplification to be sure, but in short, due to the advantages of the cartridge in terms of accuracy, recoil, and trajectory, it’s generally much easier to hit a target with the 5.56 NATO. However, the 7.62×39 hits harder and causes more tissue damage.

Thank you very much, Pandemic.

I'm going to copy and paste all of this so I can bore my wife to death with it and she'll probably say "no problem" then......LOL... :ROFLMAO:

She's also wanting a $15,000 new sewing machine (yes, that much!) so this may really be my most costly gun ever......😆

I better think this one through very well......

its kinda a loaded question because its really situational , allot to be said for the simplicity of an AK , but an AR is so much easier to rebuild , swap barrels if its shot out , and the modular aspect

Well, that calls for a mission because I thought AR's were pretty simple to take down. Another gun to learn about always costs us..... 😁 . I still need that 44 mag. too.

they are simple once you start working on them , but there are more parts , allot more , more parts more that can go wrong , if a recoil spring breaks on an AK you can take 8 rubber bands and start slinging lead again , simplicity , i love both but for a complete different array of reasons

I learned a long time ago to never loan out anything with a motor or engine on it or a gun. (y)
