No trouble at all. Apply at the local sheriff's department and have an approval in a two or three weeks. You may open carry in the interim. :)

So long as your not hiding anything you fine. Just take the class and fill out and file your paper work . Then wait. You probably had a harder time learning to drive.

Just to clarify, there is no class requirements for a CCW permit in AL. Just fill out the paperwork and then pay the fee when you are approved. The wait may vary from county to county but where I live it's running about 2 weeks.

That said, training is never a bad idea and I'd encorage anyone planning to carry a handgun to take as many classes as they can afford.

Is this all there is to it? I thought Va was pretty simple but you will be tested (online or live) then submit your course completion to the State Police, pay your fees and wait for the permit to be mailed to you.

Took me longer to fill out the paperwork than to recieve my permit.
I was in and out with permit in hand in 30 minutes..
I was misled by one of those folks that think they know it all but dont know squat..
Alabama as i learned is a must issue state.. as long as the apllicant meets requirements he or she MUST be issued a permit on demand.

Thanks.. yes i have that part..
Never felt the need to carry a handgun until recently. Im 45 and have owned firearms almost my entire life.
That being said, at the age of 9 I had in my bedroom, on my wall mounted rack, a 22 rifle and a 12g pump. With ammo in cabinet.. I lived 3 blocks from my school and NEVER ONCE even thought about taking a gun to school..
But i digress, yes i know how to handle a gun. BUT I do plan to enroll my wife and myself into a class or two as i plan to have the miss's armed.
She has never fired a weapon. And i am sure that i will glean some useful info myself..

Congratulations on your permit. We shouldn't have to have one but it's the nature of the beast right now.
Be sure to check out. www.handgunlaw.us. for info on other states. For when you travel.
One of the best sites for carry info., and constantly updated.

Always check with your local authorities before proceeding based on something you read/hear on the internet or forums.

    Info and links for information.

Thanks.. great link. Got it bookmarked. Gonna need this info for a good reason that i am reluctant to disclose but i can tell u that i have a genuine fear for my safety.
Laws are important to me but as many of my co wworkers would say "id rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6.."

In The Free State of Winston you get the permit instantly and here is the good part. Under the new shall issue law it can be for up to five (5) years. Well at $15 a year that is $75 right??? Wrong, Sheriff Rick Harris as said for your $15 you get the full FIVE years!!! Another 'Free State' first! :D
