I carry 9mm, what would you guys suggest for CCW ammo?
I usually carry 9mm. However, on those hot days when i need a smaller gun, i will occasionally carry 380 ACP.
40. S&W Winchester Ranger bonded here.
Fiocchi hollow point is what I would use
I like Winchester PDX JHP or Gold Dots.
For brands im kind of partial to Hornady Critical Defense and Winchester White Box JHP rounds.
I carry 230gr hydrashoks in my m&p 45c and 147 Remington golden sabers in my snubby. I don't carry a 9 anymore but when I did, I liked the hornady critical defense
Hornady Critical Defense
Gaah! Meant Golden Sabers!
My choice in 9mm is 124gr +P loads from either Speer (Gold Dot) or Federal (HST).
gold dot 124gr +P
I carry the Winchester 127 +p+, but any of the top brand 115, 124, or 127 gr +p or +p+ ammo that is reliable in your PPD will serve you well!
I don't recommend any bullet heavier than the 127 gr in the 9mm. The 147 gr are just to heavy for this caliber and case size.
Hornady TAP 147 gr +p jacketed hollow points.
Pdx1, gold dot, and critical duty
Are at the top of my list.
I would ask for what gun before I could accurately answer that. Are you okay with risking premature wear with +P rounds?
Personally I feel one should practice regularly with the ammo they plan on carrying in their gun. Not only that but to test it to ensure as best possible that it will feed, cycle and expand properly and regularly. Thus unlike the rest I won't go off all half-cocked & willynilly with an answer.
Ammo is more important a decision than the gun itself in my eyes!
Remmington Golden Sabers.
Gold Dot & Hornady Critical Defense in my G19.
Gold Dots for me.
Gold Dots also.
